Hi DPP! We would like to invite you guys to the biggest photo contest down south! On December 1-8, 2011, Batangueños will be celebrating the 430th Foundation of Batangas Province. One of the highlights of this year's celebration is the Ala Eh! Festival 2011 Photo Contest - Main Event, where the Grand Prize for both PEOPLE and PLACE category is P50,000. I. Project Goals
The photo contest aims to showcase the beauty of the Finest People and Places in Batangas through the eyes and lenses of the locals and the tourists.
Every town of Batangas will be promoted by the contest and not just the well-known and tourist-heavy spots.
This is a formal competition, but in the end the contest aims to foster solidarity among Batangueños and fellow Filipinos through a deeper sense and appreciation of the beauty of the province.
The contest’s Organizer is WOWBatangas.com, member of the Ala Eh! Festival 2011 Committee.
II. Photo Requirements
Photo must be taken from anywhere within the Province of Batangas from January 1, 2004 onwards.
Image file must be taken with a digital camera (Digicam or SLR only, no Cellphone cams). Film and scanned pictures are not allowed.
Image file must be in .JPG format and not more than 5MB.
Image must not be less than 1600 pixels in width (if a horizontal image) or 1600 pixels in height (if a vertical image)
Minor editing using a software is acceptable. The ONLY allowable edits are cropping, minor burning, dodging, color correction, levels (brightness and contrast).
Filters and plugins are not acceptable. No HDR.III. Theme
The theme of this Photo Contest is “Batangas Province – All Here. So Near.” The photo must reflect the beauty of Batangas Province and its people.
IV. Criteria for Judging
Photographic/Technical Quality – 40%
Creativity – 40%
Relevance to the Theme – 20%This criteria for judging will be used in the 1st, 2nd and Final Rounds for all events and categories of the Ala Eh! Festival 2011 Photo Contest.
V. Main Event
Description
This event is open to all Batangueños, Filipinos and other nationalities 13 years old and above. Multiple entries may be submitted as long as they follow the mechanics below and each entry is submitted with its own registration fee (P200 Basic Registration or P500 Full Registration with T-Shirt).
Categories
There will be two separate contests or categories in this particular event – PEOPLE and PLACE.
PEOPLE refers to Batangas festivals, culture, personalities and product-making where the entry’s subject is/are Batangueños taken within Batangas Province.
PLACE refers to nature or environment and man-made places or structures where the entry’s subject is a scenery or a view in and from Batangas Province.
Event Mechanics
Open to all Filipinos and other nationalities staying in the Philippines whose country of origin does not prohibit this contest. Batangueños may also join.
Beginners, amateur and professional photographers may join.
13 years old and above only. For contestants who are below 18 years old, you will be required to submit a letter from your parents allowing you to join this contest.
Submitted photo/s must be taken by the contestant. Proxies are strictly not allowed.
Photo entries will be accepted starting September 1, 2011.
Contestants may submit any number of entries to one or both category. One Entry = One Registration Fee. Once a contestant’s entry wins a 1st Round elimination, the contestant is no longer eligible for the other 1st Rounds of the same category but may choose to join the other category. The same contestant is also not eligible to join the Town-Level Event.
1st Round. There will be three 1st Round Eliminations on the months of September, October and November.
Cut-off dates for submissions are as follows:
1st Round – September 28, 2011
1st Round – October 28, 2011
1st Round – November 28, 2011
Elimination Judging is on the 30th day of the respective month.
The best five (5) photos per month will move on to the Final Round. They will be announced immediately on our website www.alaehfestival.com (http://www.alaehfestival.com).
All submitted photos will also be posted for Viewer’s Choice Award on WOWBatangas.com FB page.
Final Round. With 5 winners per month per category, there will be 15 finalists for PEOPLE Category and 15 finalists for PLACE Category. The finalist’s pictures will all be printed and exhibited inside the Municipal Hall of Calaca, Batangas, the site of the Ala Eh! Festival 2011 celebrations, from December 1-8, 2011. Judging for the Final Round will be on December 4, 2011.
Finally, the First Place for the two categories will be awarded during Ala Eh! Festival 2011.VI. Prizes – Main Event

PLACE Category Grand Winner : P50,000 Cash + Trophy + Free Stay for Two in a Batangas ResortThe 1st and 2nd Runner-ups will get a free stay package at a Batangas Resort.

The submitted pictures will be posted online for voting. Highest no. of votes will determine the winner for both category.
