David Tong 09-27-2011, 12:31 PM How the mighty has fallen...

Though it's old news, the only thing Kodak has worth keeping are the patents, it's an inevitable closure for this household name unless something big happens outside their photography business.
Russel_Ariola 09-27-2011, 12:57 PM in the future they might just cater to film users, a specialized market.
id rather buy a huge print made from an enlarger than some poser who prints it out from digiprint.
alt process are beautiful and never go away.
Ronaldo Amos, Jr. 12-26-2011, 05:58 PM Though I'm a Pentax user, I've been fond of Kodak stuff - their film is usually the content of my old Minolta SLR. Wish I had the chance to use a Kodachrome back then....

Christian Lozañes 01-21-2012, 07:47 PM Kodak May Leave Photography to Focus On Printing, Film Business Still Profitable

"Film (still and cinema) remains a profitable business for Kodak, and we have the broadest and most respected portfolio of films in both segments. We have taken steps to sustain the business as it has declined, and we know that there are hundreds of passionate fans of film for the artistic and quality reasons they cite. We remain committed to make film as long as there is profitable demand for it. And as I noted, it is still profitable."
Ronaldo Amos, Jr. 01-27-2012, 03:07 PM I think they shouldn't have sold the sensor division... but anyways what's done is done.
Film... yeah, I think film should still live on... film photography has its own look compared to digital.

yep.. kill it! *rawr*
poor kodak.. i hear it's getting sued by apple too..
Russell Olaguer 02-29-2012, 02:22 PM Sad to hear these kind of news.
I grew up using the phrase "Kodak-an na!" which means "It's picture taking time!".
Kodak is a Philippine Icon when it comes to film photography.
I hope they can recover from their downfall.
cirloalcantara 03-15-2012, 11:30 PM Can't help but feel nostalgic about Kodak's predicament. I grew up seeing, using their films in instamatic cameras. Waiting with excitement while the films are being developed. Touching, smelling the newly developed copies, looking at both correctly exposed and blurry pics at the same time. Musing at the captured moments of our lives...goodbye Kodak you will be missed!
Ronaldo Amos, Jr. 03-26-2012, 09:27 AM Kodak's not dead per se - they just killed the camera division, including the sensors... as far as I know, they're still making film prints~ not sure if they still make film, though. There's still a lot of Tri-X, Ektachrome, Gold, Colorplus and other Kodak film variants still in the non-pure-digital stores.
marbinsantos 03-26-2012, 05:49 PM nonetheless kodak still remains a householdname...a legend!

Nobody said that kodak is dead..it filed for bankruptcy. The goodbye is for the "giant" that it was once. Anyway you're right about the cam division though!
Ronaldo Amos, Jr. 04-02-2012, 11:20 AM Indeed, I hope after all the bankruptcy issues Kodak comes back to the photography scene :) as a camera company again !

I second the motion!
Edwin Hermoso 04-12-2012, 02:20 AM Sadly, Kodak says it's also closing down the Ektachrome (slide film) line. Which normally takes 18 months. They normally have 'master rolls' of these things available in storage. So when the announce a discontinuance, we in the market still have a few months to stock up.

A bigger ouch :( I hope some still remain in the near future for me and other interested people to try out...
