Olympus has announced a firmware update on E-330, E-500.

Changes are as follows:

E-500
1) AEL/AFL Button <> One-touch WB button
A menu function is added for exchanging AEL/AFL button and One-touch WB button.

2) Improve the precision of exposure by built-in flash
Exposure level of built-in flash with the combination of some of lenses* is improved. Sigma Corp. Four-Thirds lenses (18-50mm F3.5- 5.6 DC,18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC, 55-200mm F4-5.6 DC)


E-330
1) Improved image quality of 10x enlargement in Live-View B mode (macro live view).
2) Live-View B mode (macro live view) can be used in underwater macro mode and underwater wide mode . (Only when the mode dial is customized)

Hi guys, I,m new around here. I just got my E-500 today and am interested in updating the firmware. I noticed though that the url you referenced

Hi Angel,

You can use the software that comes with your e-500 (Olympus Master) to update the frimware of your e-500 body, zd lenses, and Oly Flash like the fl-35 or fl-50.

Francis is right, Angel. Just install Olympus Master, then update it, and then you will see the icon Update Firmware, click it and it will ask you to connect your cam. Make sure you have a full charge (or almost full) battery in your cam -- follow instructions :D

Thanks Francis & Dex, but would you know if a newer version is available?

The software will let you know if all of your hardware's versions are up to date...

if you're lazy enough to connect your cam and check once in a while... (like i am because i use a card reader for storing my pics bcoz of the slow download of the e-500)

then i suggest to just drop by here once in a while in the olympus section, and/or join us in the pinoy olympus e-users yahoogroup! so you would know the latest in olympus and at the same time be happy because now you know that you are not alone! Ryt dex? hehe...

Firmare (E-500) or Software (Oly Master)?

For firmwares, just make sure the accessory or lens you want to check is connected to your cam (flash/lens) and run Firmware Update... it will then automatically let you know if it needs a firmware update or not.

For the Master, just run software update and it will let you know if it needs updating or not. Be careful not to run Software Upgrade as it will ask you to buy the Licensed product which you don't really need.
