Concept is great. Two things though; The reflections are inconsistent and silver would look better with a dark background with a little bit of backlight, maybe?

Otherwise, it's a very nice pic. :)

Hi Orly, thanks. You're right, it'll look better with a dark BG. MY clients wanted everything in white, so my entire shoot was just white. Para nga ko mabubulag na rin sa kaka tingin sa white. :)

pretty clean image. if i remmeber it correctly - a number of pros told me that one of the more difficult products to shoot are jewelry (or anything that shines/reflects). i like the layout. do share some more images.

btw the white background worked for me...just need to be consistent on the reflections (as what Orly mentioned).

Thanks for sharing man.

Thanks for the comments Levi. Hehe, the rings were places side by side originally. Twas kinda boring so I stacked them in PP. Hence the reflections. :D

True, jewelry is such a pain to shoot. Anyway here's another photo from the shoot. :)

Bro,

Nice job with the arrangement of the jewelry, etc...however my only comment is on the white background...too high contrast, a dark background would have been nice with glass on on the bottom for the reflection...IMOH of course...

Te, wen ta ma shoot...Burdoy Vitterbo told me that you're cooking something special...Swimsuit edition...hehehehe...pwede ka VA? hahahaha

Galing, while I do agree that a darker background may be better, you gotta do what the client needs...

Very nice and clean :D

Thanks David. Yeah, we just follow what were told. :)

Showed them a sample of black with reflections... they still wanted white. :(

nice concept! background works for me too.

was just wondering - can someone explain the comment "the reflections are inconsistent"?

thanks!

John, if you look at the stacked rings, like the 2nd and middle (2nd from the top, that is), you'll see that the shadow/reflection on the walls of the 2nd ring is parallel to the base of the ring itself... Since the middle ring is angled, the reflection shouldn't be in that orientation...

The reflections look as if another set of rings were placed BESIDE the main photographed ring hence the same-plane reflection.

Didn't really notice it until Orly pointed it out.

Sir, did you use your DIY light tent or box here?

Hi Peter,

It just occured to me that you can use another method of taking the above shot (stacked rings). You can lay down a white illustration board and stick straight pins on it. You then hang and arrange the rings on the pins to make them appear that they're stacked together. You take the shot using a tripod with the camera facing down 90 degrees onto the illustration board. This will effectively hide the pins from the shot. Add a bit of lighting around the subjects to remove the shadows. This way, you won't have problems with reflections and should save you hours on PP.

Still another approach is to use a little bit of hot glue to secure the rings.

Hi, I like the white background, its refreshing. Consider using a light tent to shoot jewelry next time. It will basically ensure that the only black reflection possible is your lens. Try it, it works for me. Or, another easy fix is Photoshop. Para lang masmalinis. Nice work!
