Yup, not all members of the Pasig Shutter Bugs are DPP forumers, thus unlike the FB page, the DPP thread hasn't been that active lately.

By the way, the Pasig Shutter Bugs recently had it's first photo exhibit at the Pasig City Museum last August 2011 :)

Honestly, I don't know what to suggest as there is another thread referring to Pasig City photographers (chard villareal's link) and much of the discussions were already posted there before. The DPP moderators may see this as the same as the previous thread and may merge it.

With the Pasig Shutter Bugs (PSB), the PSB members already have it's own activities lined up for the entire year (photography lectures, OTS photo contests, photowalks). BTW, for info, the Pasig Shutter Bugs is a resident organization of the Pasig City Museum and is more than a year old :Grin: There's also a group of professional photographers in Pasig, the "Pasig Photographers Service Cooperative (PPSC)", they are different from the PSB as the PPSC's mandate is "photography as a full time profession" while the PSB is for "photography as a hobby and art". :)


What do you want to do ba? Street Photography? The PSB will be holding an open photowalk on Sunday for the PSB FB group, location is being finalized. It's somehow a prelude to what we will be doing for the Scott Kelby WWPW. You guys can freely join the open photowalk if you want to explore more of Pasig City. :) I'll post it here as well.


Regarding events - I was informed that on Oct 2 Sunday baranggay Rosario will be holding a caracol festival, I'm not yet sure of the time 'though, but it may be held in the morning :Thinking: I'll post it once I get the details. :)

We got choices in rainforest, floodway, just about anywhere. Thats why we need to bunch together as there is safety in numbers and more eyes watching out for each other.

Rainforest??? well, there's a city ordinance requiring photographers to pay a certain amount to shoot :Shock: So, unless the ordinance is repealed or revised, DSLRs will not be allowed to be used inside the rainforest :(

There are a lot of historical sites around Pasig which may not know of :) So, don't limit yourself to simply doing street photography :Grin: and btw, let's not limit ourselves with street photography on the subject of taking pics of impoverished areas and people, unless its for a cause.

Night photography???? the mega market is a nice place to do night photography, but you'll need permission from the city government if you plan to do this on your own (you'll need the assiatance of the Blue Boys). Plaza Rizal in front of the Museum is a perfect place, no need for a permit, and you can do street, action (skateboarders/free style BMX riders), and night photography, all in one.

That's the main reason why the PSB was formed, as there is strength in numbers :Grin:

Just continue on. And I'll try posting the future activities of the PSB. Also, for info, the Pasig City Museum facilitates a photography workshop once or twice a year, exclusively for Pasig City residents. I'll post it here when there's a schedule.

Likewise, I'll post the other places that could be of interest to you all.

yes, that has been the problem for half of the PSB members. For this reason, we do sometimes meet during Sundays, especially if there's an invited speaker :)

when i was in my infancy :D we used to leave in rosario, i moved to bacolod to pasay to cavite and now i am back in rosario pasig by chance. . :Grin:

i would agree with gerald if PSB will adapt us then why not this thread is not formed to divide a group but to unite a group right?

If my memory serves me right, about a month ago, I did a "solitary" photowalk inside rainforest and was allowed at that time. Probably its just pure luck. I think this issue of isolating DSLRs from the smaller digicam have to be address with our local authorities.

Shooting with a DSLR compared to shooting with a digicam is simply the same. Can the PSB bring this matter up to the office of Mayor Eusebio?

Guys!! I do have a band right now... I play the drums for Buhawi Meneses of parokya ni edgar. Buwi formed our band for side project and for his greenpeace charity... if you it's ok with you...you can do photoshoots on one of our gig... :-)

You are lucky indeed, as others were not. Its fees were effected thru a city ordinance, thus we'll need to lobby its repeal or revision to the local councilors so they would understand the differences between taking family snap shots and taking photos as a money making venture. Not as simple as it seems. :( But we are working on it, one step at a time :)

Had my fair share of pics from rainforest until we all got shut out. A butterfly park, smimming area, flower area, extreme sports area and a mini zoo! Awwww.

The Scott Kelby Pasig II leg will be at the Kapasigan, De Castro, Manggahan, Rosario, Floodway, C Raymundo areas, and majority of those who joined will be doing street photography, and will be scheduled in the morning of October 1.

The Scott Kelby Pasig I leg will be the Ortigas Center area, in the afternoon of October 1.

So if you notice a bunch of photographers walking around these areas, they're doing the WWPW :)

That's the whole point :) It's actually easier to tweak your camera if you have read and understood the contents of the manual by heart :) So it's normal that you get to spend a lot of time reading the manual first, than by actually clicking the shutter.


Next step is to practice what's in the manual, by shooting and tweaking the functions of your camera. This way you get to know what each function really does :Dum: This helps a lot if you want your camera to function based on your own shooting style :Grin:


Concentrate first on the type of photography you liked best, as you are still learning to use your camera :)

Never loose the fun, passion and relaxation in this hobby :)

2. Taken on September 17, 2011. This time I know that there's a fee for DSLR user who want to take photograph, I think its Php 60, I don't want to pay since I'm just practicing so I keep on covering my cam hehehe!

3. November 7, 2011 now there are more guards and difficult to take out my cam and soot. Out of curiosity I approached a guard to confirm the fee and he said yes its Php 75.....

Sorry guys didn't have time to invite don't have access to internet last sat & sun. Anyway here are my shares :

1. Taken on July 17,2011 around 6:30 or 7:00pm at Rain Forest Park, I don't know if they already have an ordinance at that time. "Rain Forest Train Station"

2. Taken on September 17, 2011. This time I know that there's a fee for DSLR user who want to take photograph, I think its Php 60, I don't want to pay since I'm just practicing so I keep on covering my cam hehehe!

3. November 7, 2011 now there are more guards and difficult to take out my cam and soot. Out of curiosity I approached a guard to confirm the fee and he said yes its Php 75.....

an open invitation: There is a planned photo activity being cooked up by the Pasig ShutterBugs FB forumers ( these are online forumers, but not yet active members of PSB) But it still being decided if they are going to do a photowalk or a model shoot. You can join them if you want.

This is really a nice one .. improving the skill and at the same time saving for the gears. a very good combo.

why do you want to replace your D3100 with a 600D anyway? For me, I'd stick with the D3100 with the kits lens, and save for an external flash. :)

Having a dilemna myself. Im thinking what lense will i get. Currently i have a nifty fifty, im thinking of buying either a 17-50 tamron lense or 18-250mm. its like torn between two lenses haha :D

Thanks :) I used a Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens on that image :)

I would assume that both lenses you mentioned are Tamron :) For everyday use, the 18-250 is more useful, due to its extended zoom capability. However, sharpness is better when you are at least a stop down, but still a bit slow in focusing, especially on the zoom end. I tested this lens vigorously as I was eyeing this lens before but a good deal on the 24-105L prompted me to go L :)

But if you need a fast lens, the 17-50 is really better. Sharpness is acceptable, but a hit and miss, at f2.8. Better sharpness at f/4.0. I was using this lens before as my main lens before shifting back to MF lenses and moving up to the 24-105L for everyday use.

Hmmmm, you can do a lot of stuff with the kit lens :) When I was using a kit, I used to do landscape and street photogrpahy. Using an extenal flash and a bounce card, you can also use the same lens for portraiture and macro photography. :)

I was even using my kit for IR photography :Grin:, as a 77mm IR filter is quite costly :(

For ultrawide images, you can always do panning :)

Nice picture sir Joel. The photo is a bit noisy, details are lost in the mountains and clouds. The incoming suv could have added a bit of story here. Keep on sharing.

^Thanks for the comment. If I remember it right, it was overcast (snowing up in the mountains) when I took the shot. And I don't really know how to capture the details or make the most of an overcast weather back then (still groping today) :)

Re the SUV, wanted to include that in the frame but was a little late with the trigger. Our group was on the move so wasn't able to wait for another vehicle to come along :D

Stitched panorama using an UWA :) The challenge to me that time was how to shoot the entire area with the grills blocking the view :Dum:

BTW, this is a joint effort of the PSB and the Rainforest administration for updates on the Museo's Pasig Landmarks project :)

yup, not everyone was able to due to conflict in schedule :) The Rainforest admin is quite impressed with the results of the photowalk and we may be able to arrange one again soon :)

As you have noticed, our forum grows everyday. Every now and then, new clubs are formed with new members coming in.

I have a request though:

For every club here in the forum:

a. Leaders/Presidents/OICs, please send through my email your list of officers (with email and contact number) and the complete name of your club;
b. If possible, include your master list (as of January 2012); and
c. Your calendar of activities for 2012


This is a way of organizing the clubs here in DPP. There are a lot of them being formed and sometimes, we already don't know who's who and which is which. We will also create simple guidelines.

This is a way of organizing the clubs here in DPP. There are a lot of them being formed and sometimes, we already don't know who's who and which is which. We will also create simple guidelines.
