View Full Version : Password protect your memory card?
BenSarmiento 06-18-2011, 01:51 PM okay i got this problem: my brother's stealing my mem card at night and he's posting my shots on facebook without my permission. he blocked me from his account last time i commented on one of his albums that those shots are stolen. cant confront him either for personal reasons, tried telling this to our parent pero they told me to understand him na lang daw.
now eto na lang naiisip kong solution, password protect the mem card. can i still use it on my cam? got any ideas?
dennis.pena 06-18-2011, 01:59 PM Why don't you just put your memory card - or your camera for that matter - under lock and key? There are software than can password protect your memory card BUT your camera will be unable to read it. The camera will show a message akin to "camera fails to read memory card".
Either that or beat the living crap out of your brother. :D Just kidding.
edricbelerma 06-18-2011, 07:54 PM what if you transfer everything to your computer, password protect your computer, and format your memory card before sleeping? :)

I think the issue transcends (not the memory card brand) mem card issues.
As such, I would like to suggest something different, something one would see in the Good Book.
Teach him how to take good photos. Lend him your camera. Share what you know, just like folks here in DPP do. Hold his hand in his journey of inner discovery. If he's that good, if not better than you, both of you may as well end up outdoing each other and capturing superb images that you can both show your mom/dad and make her/him proud.
Strive to have some quality time with him.
After all, he's your brother... To Ben's Love for a Brother
Eric Jed Abordo 06-19-2011, 02:40 AM i'll go for sir Dan's suggestion. it's the best one so far.

Can I change my suggestion to this one
airondelacruz 06-19-2011, 01:01 PM Haha. Totally agree with with Sir Dan. If your brother steals your pictures and posts them on the internet, it just means he loves good pictures same as you. Heck, you might even be his idol.
carlodaria 05-11-2012, 10:35 AM I agree with Dan...probably he wants to learn photography...teach him and I assure you you will be the best buddies..Or buy him a new DSLR and he wont bother you anymore
tony.alonzo 05-11-2012, 02:33 PM interesting and very good suggestion particularly as this affects your sibling...
the other quick fix is to put watermarks immediately on all your pics via a batch method or something...
adrianrodriguez 05-13-2012, 08:03 PM alternatively, do the work of downloading all photos after every shoot onto your computer (password protect your account) then format the card for next shoots.
Now I'm curious, why does your brother like to get your camera and get your photos?
