Chewy, it's not possible that only you are the only DPP member who has this lens.... I read a post from an unhappy customer .... anyone had this same problem? Decided to treat myself with a decent reasonably priced walk-around lens. Ordered Tamron 17-50mm from Beach Camera. The "decent" part turned out to be a problem. The first lens was dead on arrival - did not function at all. Was promptly replaced by Beach Camera. The second lens displayed significant front focus. My current walk-around, Nikon 18-200VR, was dead on in the same simple 45 deg ruler test. Tamron is packed for return. Why did I order it despite numerous reports of quality problems? My thinking was that only few people with bad copies vent their frustration while many happy owners keep quiet and are busy taking pictures. Well, I was obviously wrong. The quality problem is real and widespread - I was in denial. I believe there are good copies out there, but I am not going to try my luck any further. No more Tamrons for me until they straighten up their QC. Good design and attractive price are not enough when production sucks. Will have to wait for first comprehensive reports on Tokina 16-50/2.8 The lesson I learned: buyer, beware! And do your homework... CocoyLopez 04-04-2007, 08:08 AM Marty, I have a Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8. I was looking of 17-50mm, but it ran out of stocks, so I opted to the medium zoom. Would you like to see 100% crop picture? regie_de_rueda 04-04-2007, 08:21 AM http://farm1.static.flickr.com/196/445490407_22e6f417d4.jpg 100% crop http://farm1.static.flickr.com/183/445490381_3228c39122.jpg Original Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 @17mm, f16, 1/60s CP filter used No PP done, handheld. regie_de_rueda 04-05-2007, 06:35 AM Another shot.
