my daughter being a CCP Dance School scholar was tasked to man the Ballet Philippines booth during yesterday's Pasinaya festival....
to my surprise they opened the "hallowed grounds" for photoshoot....

would like to share with you these photos of both the Ballet Philippines and Philippine Ballet Theater performances....

the following set from the Ballet Philippines' excerpt performances

sir a bit OT: what's your daughter's name? was just wondering if i was still in BP when she became a scholar. btw, if you can clear your inbox, i was supposed to pm this to you. thanks!

her name's angel (ma. angelica) and she just recently got the scholarship. she's been a consistent student with BP for the past 9 years already. learning from ella, naomi and now rhea, perhaps your contemporaries. pretty sure that we may have bumped into each other along the hallways. thanks for the heads-up on my message box.

Were you shooting in B&W all the time? I like how the monochrome gave a more dramatic effect on the dancers.

Btw, I was also there last Sunday, but to watch Peter Pan. That colorful stage sure caught my eye, and I hope I had brought my cam with me.

@andrew..... yup, shot 95% in b&w, aperture priority f2.8-4, ISO800-1600. could've shot in shutter priority instead perhaps, 1st learning. should've brought my monopod (which was just in the car). 2nd learning.
should've shot in RAW+JPEG(B&W) instead so that i could still have color versions... oh well, another learning.

also watched the 6pm matinee of Peter Pan.... although cameras are off limits during the performance...

i like the vintage feel of the shots. however, i think iso was at 1600 and above? a little noisy. was it that dark? or the lens was was @ f/4 at most? nevertheless, the movement and distinctive blur, as well as the grace of the dancers, are all very well captured! tfs :)
