View Full Version : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.0!
mikelao 01-30-2007, 01:32 AM Starting out a new thread for Lightroom users...
Wow! Adobe finally announced version 1.0 of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom! Some new features (from the beta) include:
- stacking of pictures
- multiple versions
- red-eye and dust removal
I think these are nice features that Aperture has. One thing that i have not seen mentioned is the dual monitor support for lightroom. I have tried the slideshow feature on multiple monitors, but it would be nice to be able to do the same thing while in the develop module.
some links:
- adobe's lightroom site: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/
- lightroom learning center: http://www.photoshopuser.com/lightroom/index.html
Pricing is at $199 (for pre-orders), a $100 savings from the actual retail price. It's scheduled to shop on Feb 19. Beta version will expire on February 28.
One more thing, the new logo has the same look-and-feel as the Photoshop CS3 icon. Instead of PS, it has LR.
Earl Gonzalez 01-30-2007, 01:36 AM Thanks for the heads-up... :)

jake_borres 01-30-2007, 06:11 PM @ mike
I guess this will be the reason for me to transfer to lightroom from apple's aperture...will a crack be available soon?...hehehehe
mikelao 01-30-2007, 06:23 PM @jake - yeah! most of the features i wanted in aperture are now integrated in lightroom. dont know about cracks.. that's bad! hahaha!
i'm looking at the videos they have on the NAPP site and they have improved on a lot of things!
bernard billedo 01-31-2007, 02:08 PM For US$199 it's a good deal! I'm sure if people can afford to buy lenses for their cams they can afford this.
The hardest part for me is deciding if I should get the Mac or PC version.
mikelao 01-31-2007, 09:43 PM bernard, yup - definitely agree that $199 is a good price. tough choice on the mac or PC one. I use a mac myself. I just like how the colors show up on my monitor if i use the mac.
interestingly though, i checked the website (adobe US Store) and if you buy online, the following info appear:
- drop down for delivery method (download, or ship box to me)
- language
- patform --> no dropdown. it says win/mac!
maybe if you buy one, it includes installer for both mac and pc!!! crossing my fingers if this is truly the case!

mikelao 02-08-2007, 12:17 AM couple of updates:
- Adobe will be releasing lightroom as a 'cross-platform' app. And, the license allows you to install lightroom in 2 computers (but does not restrict the platform)...saw this news in this site: http://seanmcfoto.com/lightroom/2007/01/adobe-photoshop-lightroom-cross.html (http://seanmcfoto.com/lightroom/2007/01/adobe-photoshop-lightroom-cross.html)
- also, amazon.com has posted lightroom as one of their products and it's shipping on feb 20! lapit na!!! -> amazon.com link (http://www.amazon.com/Lightroom-Mlp-Retail-Ue-1U/dp/B000M9CMC8/sr=1-3/qid=1167848300/ref=sr_1_3/102-9110307-8540145?ie=UTF8&s=software)
bernard billedo 02-08-2007, 12:10 PM Thanks for the info Mike! I hope they'll do the same when CS3 comes out.
mikelao 02-08-2007, 01:23 PM hey bernard - agree. it's really useful especially if you have a workstation at home and a laptop for travelling!
