question 1: I have no idea

question 2: Ang alam ko sa canada, you need to have a license to be considered a pro photog. Not sure though, lets wait for the others.

question 3: Trend is microstock and DIY, imo

You might want to interview people from the industry (with experience!) like Harvey Chua http://www.adphoto.com.ph/business

I'd like to help answer your questions but my internet connection is iffy - sometimes it just disappears. The other day, I wrote a long reply and when I clicked to preview it, my computer said I had no internet connection, and I lost what I carefully composed to the blackhole in cyberspace. Waaaaah! Arrrgh!

I've also started drafting my replies on Word first, but that means I have no sense of urgency in writing them. So maybe you can call me and we can have a bit of conversation on the business of photography. Our landline is 8316117.

You could also check out my blog on www.adphoto.com.ph/business but the articles I have written may not directly answer your questions.

By the way, we are in advertising photography and we have been in the business for almost 34 years. I also give talks on the business of photography, while my husband gives talks and demos on photography itself.

We're having an open house in the studio for Photoworld delegates. If you are one, you'll hear about it. My husband, John, will do a special effects demo, and IF there is time or interest, then I'm available to answer questions about the business of photography. I'll pm you my landline at home.

I always believe that if you looked hard enough, you will find things that other people have not seen. Same with photography. Since you can use photography for or on just about anything - there must be other untapped business potentials out there.

There are two approaches to this. We could sit down and try to think of as many photography businesses as possible. That should be a lot of fun. The other way, is to have a survey of what people need in terms of photographs, or photography service and try to supply that. I just read about a digital asset management service in Thailand - they store/archive your images, make them searchable and downloadable, etc. That's something I wish were here. I'm sure there are many other possibilities.

As for differences between international and Philippine markets, please try to specify which country you would like to compare Philippine photography markets with. It would also help to know which sector - wedding, adveritising, portraits, photojournalism, travel, sports etc. you would like analyzed. :)
