Hello All,

I have a photo booth business and I'm looking for a new photo printer for my business. I've search the net and came across with this Epson Stylus T60 Photo Printer that prints boarderless photo in 4R in just 12secs. Have any one tried this printer? Any information about the print quality?

All inputs are much appreciated. :)

Hope I'm not too late for the reply sir. Epson t60's speed is great. But that is the only good thing about it sir. It maybe because of my ink but even my friends who have t60s outfitted with inks from different suppliers, we do have a common problem. The output tends to be bluish. You could correct it by adjusting your colors (which did not work for me) because you still have to correct each and every picture. My solution? Use an Epson r230. I know it is an obsolete and outdated printer but the output speaks for itself. The printing speed is not up to par with t60 though. It can also print borderless 4r and a4 (which I am using right now). You could find a brand new r230 in recto stores (tsambahan nga lang). And guess what? While a t60 costs around 8500, an r230 will cost you 12000. I got it for 11500 because I bought 3! Properly maintaining it is the key sir. I have 4 r230s right now. I am currently using one while the other 3 are backup. And do you know how old the r230 I am currently using now? 4 years! 4 years and still in perfect condition!

I'm also using Epson T60 and use their inks also. I'm happy with the outputs, out of the box it prints fast, nice, and very fine. But for me, to get the most of your printer you must understand how the whole printing process works, like a calibrated display, color management and paper profile. It takes me many trial and error just to get a list of configuration for different papers I like.

I never trusted canned icc profiles. I created my own using PM5 and eyeone spectro. under what illuminant BTW, bakit naging bluish.

I'll counter you Billy. I like to use the canned icc profiles. They should get you in the right ballpark and its not hard to tweak your image if you know how to soft proof assuming a calibrated monitor. I have a custom icc for every paper that I use but I tell you, on some images the canned icc works better than the custom. Not everyone has a Gretag Profile Maker 5 set up like you.

Hi Sir Nick. As you have said, "canned profiles better on some images, maybe on some medias. Would you like to answer why epson want you to use the icc profile of white radiant paper for the canvass?

I can't answer you on that question sir 'cause I don't know what an illuminant means in that context  All I know is, by default (unless for the genuine inks which I never try) a t60's output tends to be more bluish compared to r230's. output may vary from ink to ink and paper to paper sir but that is what I encountered. :)

Hi All,

Just have a quick question regarding this Printer.
I too am using a T60 but I am encountering trouble hiding the dialog box that pops up whenever you start a print job.
Does anyone have a solution to this? My worst case workaround would be to use 2 monitors instead of 1.

Hoping for some help.

Thanks

Hi Varun,

Please select disable status Monitor 3 of your printer. You can find this option under printing preferences>Maintenance Tab then Speed and progress. Check the box under this option. Let me know how this helps you.. One trick and you got it all!:)

Jess, there are photo papers that is not really a standard 4x6 in measurement.
sorry about that. We have the same problem, try to look around several photo papers and see whats suits you best.

You may also try creating a size by measuring your existing paper.:)
I'll be glad to know of the result.

ciao!

lolz! thats the effect of converting the unit..
you cannot maximize the life of the printer.. too bad!
NEVER USE non genuine inks for any brand. follow your brands recommendation.
mine is turning 2 1/2 years and still giving me good prints..

But it depends on how you take care of your printer. I still have my R230 with me after more than 5 years of service. It has been converted since day one. Though I have a few missing bands due to clogging, it is NOT visible when printing. And if incase this R230 breaks down, I still have two more units on hold. I bought two extra R230s when I bought the one I'm using right now thinking that if it will become clogged, I still have to two more to go. And now, 5 years after, the spares are just collecting dust.

+1.

Just to share, I previously owned an Epson C90, converted to CISS from the first day..served me for 3 years very well. Now my T60's going 2 years, great output pa rin, using pigment inks.

Pigment ink on t60? That I got to see. I tried my t60 with pigment but the output is very bad. The colors were way off. I transferred it to my r230 and the color improved. But still bad. I read somewhere that 6 color printers do not accept pigment inks. Only dye. Now I have my t60 and r230 on dye while my t10 is on pigment. And yes the t10 is still alive. After more that 3 years of service.
