View Full Version : User friendly editing software
DoiVillanueva 02-05-2011, 02:37 AM Hi guys, I usually use LR for my editing, though I want to get a little higher, I tried using Photoshop cs4. Unfortunately I find it really confusing and haven't gotten around it. Are there any alternative to Photoshop? I've heard about picasa, aperture etc. Still Im not sure of which to get. I'm looking for a much easier to use than the cs4 but a bit more professional than the lightroom. Any recommendations? Hope you can help here...I'm no computer geek that understood computer stuffs that much.. Thanks in advance...

Just for example I like the specific sharpening capabilities of CS4. though I could not yet do it...
Paolo Dolina 02-17-2011, 07:59 PM I prefer Apple Aperture but if you want Adobe go with Lightroom.
joseph.nebrida 07-06-2011, 06:01 PM LR is powerful enough, straight forward and simple to use. That's after getting the hang of it. Good in sorting out photos too.
rey anipan 07-06-2011, 08:20 PM i'm no expert but i've tried using LR and i think it's user friendly enough. gives the user more control over images especially with RAW files. right now i'm using Photoscape, recommended by a friend of mine.

there are a lot of sharpening techniques that you can do in cs4, i think some are already shared within the thread... otherwise you can install some sharpening plugins like for example the NIK software plugin....

My advice is just stick with Photoshop. Even if you find a better program than PS or an equivalent, don't expect a simple interface/workspace that's not intimidating. I believe you're just confused on the different tools in PS, why not look for tutorials on how to use them. Or, install PS plugins or PS Actions to automate the lengthy processes in image editing.
You might be interested in these professional PS plugins, my favorites:
> Portraiture 2 by Imagenomic - professional retouching in seconds
> Noiseware professional by Imagenomic - best image noise removal in the planet (trust me)
> Bokeh 2 by Alienskin - create realistic bokeh

Rafael Bacuteng 11-11-2011, 12:44 AM I suggest you keep using photoshop until you're familiar with it because you might still end up using it in the end, eventually. There are tons of photoshop tutorials out there in the internet. All you need to do is look them up. :)
LR seems to be fine and for the options and the photo manipulation it provides, you couldn't go wrong. You could try experimenting with the brush tool. You can actually do MANY things with it. BTW, I know of many in the photo business that only use LR in post processing photos as it is time-saving. Sounds professional to me. :D:D
richardromano 11-11-2011, 09:39 PM If you want to level up you Pp skills, learn how to use photoshop.
I know ur having a hard time coz ur not familiar with all the tools and buttons etc etc
To begin here are some tips
check for online workflows ex. tutorialized.com, it shows buttons, effects and filters etc you need to you to achieve a certain effect/s.
if you keep doing these for a week you will learn photoshop :-) you need practice and patience oks.
