Nick Tuason 05-17-2006, 09:28 PM Hi Guys,
You might see me participate here too. I am Nick Tuason, Pilar's husband. I do many of her post processing work so that she can focus on her shooting mainly. I suggest we start a new thread if you have any questions or would like to participate in this category.
Johfil, you have a question about wedding albums. Start a new thread and lets discuss it.
Lastly, if you may have noticed we are getting participants from other countries. This will be an international forum. As much as possible, lets try to keep our posts in English so that everyone can understand. Taglish will do but again, English is best. This is not to be snobby but just a consideration for others. Its part of our rules in the forum.
Lets get a new thread going.
Cheers,
Nick Tuason
dinolara 06-22-2006, 08:09 PM I'm a little late in this forum.
I'm Dino Lara and I'm a full-time wedding photographer since 2000. I also belong to a group called Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines (WPPP) where I act as organization secretary.
I can say I have already considerable experience in wedding photography and I can share here all that I know. But please don't expect too much from me, I, too is still learning. I guess everyone is.

cris_servillas 11-14-2006, 01:25 PM hello everybody, now i know the thread to ask about wedding photography. so far wala pa ako questions.
Roli Balicas 08-27-2009, 01:28 AM Hi all,
This looks like a promising thread for me to lurk in. Total noob in wedding stuff here and this appears to be the best chance for me to interact with those who have more experience in this subject. I once shot a wedding and it was below what I hoped it'd be... (I was so bad i didn't post it online!) For the benefit of noobs at this subject can someone please give an overview of the over all work flow of the stuff that wedding photogs do?
I only went as far as taking the pictures (randomly spray and pray mostly. Can't get a good angle since I had to step aside so that I don't disturb the pros.). I'm sure there's more to that. What are the things expected of a good wedding photog?
Osric de Guzman 08-27-2009, 07:04 PM hi to all! great thread perfect for a total noob like me so I have a lot of questions.
1. equipment. 2 bodies 1 standard zoom 1 telephoto seems like what people say to bring how about flash do you need 2? do we attach it to both cameras? flash diffuser? since the ceiling is usually high do we set it to bounce or shoot through?
2. settings. i tried once to setting it in manual as a result i was too slow. so i think shutter or aperture priority is better, but what is better? ISO i think should be a little high but I want high quality noiseless images too so what is the perfect settings?
3. raw or jpeg? raw is so ideal for high quality images but sometimes there is a deley when you shoot so many in succesion. in jpeg you can show the ceremony images in the reception right away and fast shutter succesions is no problem but we lose the pp flexibilities in shooting raw. so raw or jpeg?
that's all i can think of right now, thanks!
rhobennbulaon 12-11-2010, 10:36 PM i sense that the other thread can be merged w/ this one... or i can be wrong...
Jeruel B. Ibaņez 12-12-2010, 06:46 AM Is my observation correct?
"Most of the Wedding Photographers are using Canon bodies and lenses."
Having double mind now which gears to accumulate related to Wedding photography.

IMHO, i dont think being good in Wedding photography is related also with the brand of the camera we use. The most impt thing is the skills of the photographer next is the lense we use.
Jeruel B. Ibaņez 12-12-2010, 02:18 PM Thanks riden for the reply.
However, your answer seem not to address my observations, though.

Perhaps Nikon but it takes experience and artistic talent, creativity as well.
rhobennbulaon 12-14-2010, 06:40 AM Thanks riden for the reply.

i get your point... i wish if the wedding photog heroes would kinda kiss & tell if they were about to choose nikon aside from their canon, will they do it if monetary is not a question? parc cruz did... :)
this would be interesting... :Dum:
EzArce 12-14-2010, 05:42 PM i just came from a wedding last week and the photographer was holding nikon gears. imo those photogs who uses canon were already been attracted to canon even way before they became wedding pros.
and if i remember it clearly, parc said that nikon was giving him a better deal, that's why he changed. i think he still have his canon stuff hidden in a drybox. it would just be a matter of preference.
viktorguillen 12-14-2010, 06:25 PM is this thread still active, meaning does mam pilar still answer queries and questions related to wedding photography?
IMO, most wedding photogs really use canon or maybe most of the weddings that i attended and covered often use canon bodies. i have used both bodies but i still prefer canon since i started shooting canon, nothing against nikon users. ^^
markanthonyfadulla 12-15-2010, 10:36 AM I just came across this thread and I hope to learn a lot...
I have tried shooting wedding once but I was just asked by a friend. I didn't know what to do then aside from the little homework that I did a few weeks before the wedding. Also, I didn't know that I would start loving shooting weddings. It's really fun most especially the getting-to-know-the-couple part and the pre-nuptial photo shoot. It was great! I mean, my first wedding shoot wasn't that good but I learned so much from it!
