Hi guys anybody know where this might be available here in the philippines?

I'm wondering the same thing... From what I've read on the Net, this appears to be a very good option for people who want better IQ than compacts but do not want to invest in, and/or lug around, a DSLR set-up. I believe this has already been released abroad? Is it already available here?

One more thing also: what exactly is the difference between GH2 and G2 (or GH1 and G1, for that matter)?

By any chance, would anyone have an update on the arrival of GH2 here in Manila? I'm keen on buying this camera and might ask a friend to buy it for me in Hongkong if it won't arrive anytime soon locally... Hope someone can answer my query on this. :)

Hi guys, my friend is in Hongkong at this very moment and just texted me saying that the GH2 is available there for HK$8,900 (or roughly Php51,000) with the 14-42mm kit lens. Unfortunately, it's the cash price and he doesn't have that much cash on hand. :( another shop that carried it was selling it at a very high price - roughly Php70,000!! I told my friend not to get it anymore. I'll just wait for it to become locally available...

Alternatively, the camera is already available at Amazon.com for US$999 but will take 1-2 months to ship out to a U.S. address. So, that means it might take up to 3 months before it would reach me if I would order there (inclusive of 1-month shipping time for a balikbayan box)....

Was finally able to order one from an online store in the US.. Woohoo! Man, this camera was near-impossible to find. Was just by a stroke of sheer luck that I was able to score one. Luckily, my cousin will be coming home at the end of February. I ordered the silver version for two reasons: to be different from the rest and I really had no choice as there were no available stocks of the black version. Hehe. Can't wait to get it!

Hey guys, does anyone know if this is already available here? Mine isn't gonna be with me for another week or so but was just wondering if anyone else already has their own personal review of this camera...

My GH2 finally arrived! I haven't had a chance to really test it though, since I came home late. Offhand, the camera looks and feels very solidly built. While it has an all-plastic outer body, it seems very sturdy. The shutter sound when taking pictures sounds very satisfying and comforting, coming from a P&S.

The camera's focusing speed is really fast and the few pictures and videos I took around the house, using both the 14-42mm kit lens and the 20mm pancake lens, look pretty good. I still need to buy a filter for the 14-42mm so I don't want to use it too much until then.

I'll be going to Boracay over the weekend so I think I'll be able to stretch out my GH2's legs there. I'll try to take a few pictures of the camera itself as well and post them soon. :)

Finally a kabayan who has a GH2. I have been keen looking for a DSLR that will suit my needs. I was interested on the Canon 550D,600D,60D or a Nikon D7000 until someone suggested a Lumix GH2 in dpreview. Good thing i got curious and browsed the web and i have to say this is my "Holy Grail" (0.1sec Light speed AF at the touch of the LCD, tele-converter, built-in dolby digital stereo mic, Full HD with 60/50 fps options and high ISO levels, need i say more? Everything a video/film enthusiast needs! :D ) The only thing that bothers me is the image quality, from what i've seen it is still not at par as the DSLR's as it still kinda had that "digicam point & shoot" look.
So i wanted to be sure. So please post them pictures of high-light, low-light with diff ISO levels. :Grin: Where did your friend buy the GH2 HK? How much is the body and the lenses? thanks and god speed.

Hi Genji, I'll try to post some pics soon. I'm not sure if I'll be able to show you the full extent of the camera though... since I'm coming from a P&S, I've only used the "idiot-proof" fully automatic mode so far. I still have to read the manual to fully learn how to stretch the camera's creative juices...

Using the fully automatic mode though, the shots I've taken with the kit lens have been very sharp. And I can fully attest to the lightspeed AF. AND, with the awesome touchscreen, you can tell the camera to focus on a particular part of the image by simply touching that part of the screen.

The camera is very compact and light for a "DSLR". :)

I bought it online from www.adorama.com (http://www.adorama.com) for $999 with the 14-42mm kit lens and had it sent to my cousin in the U.S. Then, my cousin brought it home for me when she came home last week. I'm definitely one happy camper with this GH2. Will post pics soon! :)

I love the GH2 for It's video hands down. But i think i will also have trouble getting this baby from out of the country. (I'am afraid in the fact of shipping as it might cause some trouble for the camera. If something goes wrong. :Mad:)
Auto-mode is not a problem, just wanna see the sharpness, color, exposure and how the out of focus /depth of field looks like. Please post photos outside at bright sunlight capturing clouds, indoor capturing faces or animals or fabrics. Oh and how about the tele zoom one shot before the zoom and then after.
Oh and why is your box a GH2K/Black? Did you get that 20mm for free in the $999 package? and with a lowepro bag for $999? Hmm that's a good deal. :)

Nope, if you look closely at my first picture of the camera, it says "Silver/Argent' immediately below "DMC-GH2K". The $999 was for the camera with 14-42mm kit lens. Bought the 20mm pancake lens separately for around $350 while the Lowepro bag was a "pasalubong" from my cousin. :)

Great cam dude... i have Lumix Gh1 with 14-42mm, 45-200mm and the 100-300mm which i think doesn't arrive yet in the Philippines, but you can buy here i think 45-200mm, the 100-300mm ithink cause 65kphp, it came from Us... i have dificult in lumix when it cames to viewing its like i cant see such a good view unlike canon or nikon... anyway lumix is hand friendly.. I want to have 20mm.. so cool!

Hi Edd, yup unfortunately, the local Panasonic dealers here don't really support their Micro Four-Thirds line-up and most of us here end up having to rely on small-time online sellers or on online stores abroad. As I mentioned previously, I sourced my GH2 and lenses from the U.S.

However, I'm not sure I agree with you with your statement that you find it difficult with Lumix to view things? Personally, I think that the GH1 and GH2 have the best EVFs out there and the rotating LCD is great for viewing potential shots at every angle. :)

I have an upcoming trip next month. Can't wait to stretch my GH2's legs again! :)

As much as I love my GH2, I'm beginning to realize that I might be more suited to an advanced P&S like the LX5 or a superzoom camera (like I used to have). Am considering selling my GH2 baby....
