hi everybody! i just started with photography last month and since my wife is doing wedding coordination as a sideline, i think im gonna be more exposed with these events. next week, she's gonna organize her friend's wedding and i told my wife that im gonna do some practice shots on the wedding.

my question is, what are the limits or guidelines for a newbie like me with regard to taking good photos and not to interfere with the official photographer?

i just want to practice my shots but not disrespect the official photographers.

thank you!

Just tell them you're documenting your wife's "wedding coordination" event. Technically, you're officially there for your wife. As for the practise, follow the official photographer. Shoot where he shoots, for sure you'll be behind him, and not infront of him.

Don't worry, you are not competition, he's paid, you're not (yet)

Remember to dress really smart. You look shabby, they will treat you like one. The official photogrpaher will NOT know the difference. Tell him you're the cousin of the Groom, then he'll help you pa!:) :)

That's what I do as well mainly because it's true. I'm an invited guest :)

And when I get that killer shot.. I process it and frame it for them as a gift. The couple will treasure it even more.

Just don't get in the way of the main photographer, I guess. Take notes on the flow of the ceremony and how the photographer deals with the guests [how to make them comfortable etc. etc.].
Don't be afraid to ask questions - Pat Dy was kind enough to give pointers and answer some questions during my friend's wedding. I hope you're as lucky.
