Hi dan. the iso is on auto when i took the shot (1600), that explains the noise.

Regarding this "creating your on style".

I have read somewhere over the net about plagiarism or closely imitating someones work.

Can we create our own style, how do we say that "its my style"., when we are influenced by many other works. how do we do that when we know that somewhere, someplace or maybe even sometime theres bound to be a similar style just like ours?

Could we all just be a plagiarist? copying style over style and calling it our own?

So how do we create our own style?

I really like macros.. this is good.

Here's my 2 cents Mark, i hope you wont mind it coming from a newbie like me.


first photo:

really no clear subject, i dont know whats it is your aiming for, the bridge, the building or the pool? Plus the glare is really distracting.

second photo:

same with the first one. i could see some ghosts on the lower right of the image.


i think what your trying to relay here is how beautiful is the place is. But your message was lost in poor composition.


Dont take this as coming from an expert, cause in no way i am one.

Thanks Edward, no prob. The subject is Rosewood Pointe during night (long exposure). . . First photo, subject is the bridge. Intentionally blaze-like the light. 2nd, playground as the subject. Ghost like images on the lower portion shows the movement of people in the place. Again, thanks = )

Well it depends on what the group decides.

yah that would be great, maybe we could do that, Let see what happens.

If we can move this on Sunday.. just in case , i can always join you guys :)

Set it to at least 11-12noon (1 hour waiting then off we go..)

Itinerary can be Tondo Church...Street walk to Juan Luna-Binondo Church then Ongpin ..have a mirienda then to Ulingan .. be ready to stash at least 100-200pesos each on Ulingan .. local barangays request a small amount for a Tanod escort .wear at least a comfortable shoes.. be ready for mud and shallow flooded pathways.. bring extra shirt a small towel and bottled water . (umbrella just in case)

See my latest Solo Photowalk (http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=35635) .. if these pushes through i will notify the Barangay Official there of our visit for added security purposes.. but from my experience .. Ulingan is much safer than Baseco ..
And bring some barya,candies and always leave your pride behind .. ;)

hey guys.. I'm plannig to try strobist shoots. I have a Nikon d60. Can anybody here tell me which equiptments to buy? any recommendations on how to construct a basic setup? thanks!!

First thing first.. you have to get a speedlight and/or a constant lightsource(lighting equipments), And since your camera body don't have a built in commander mode (a specific functionality of a DSLR body, it acts as a trigger to fire out/control your speedlights) i think you'll also be needing a trigger, As for strobing equipments, since your just starting,i think a basic 1 light setup would do, you'll just need a lightstand, a shoot through/reflective umbrella or a softbox and a flash bracket.. there are stores like TayHua, JT Photo or in Hidalgo that you can get this stuffs,

angelo get some flashes, and trigger them via optical or radio signal. you could also use a flash cord, for some basic off cam flash.

you can get good info at strobist.com (lighting 101), also try looking at tayhua.com's online catalog, they have a few basic lighting kit for those on a tight budget.

In fact, I was "physically" born in Galang Maternity Clinic, which if I remember right is near Batangas Street, along Abad Santos, which geographically is still part of Tondo!

Here's a simple lighting tutorial of sort:

We were in a small room planing a group shot but the available light was from a window almost behind us. I don't want to lower the shutter speed because I know we were gonna moving a lot for " kulitan pics". And F6.3 I dunno why 6.3 but I chose f5.6 up so the area of focus would be wider than lower aperture where i might get an unfocus face if its out of the plane( Still the f6.3 is still wide now that I'm thinking about it. Should have use f8-f11 and uped my flash power), I could have up the iso but i didn't because I knew I got my flash somewhere in my bag.

Solution: Used a External flash trigger via CTR-301p. Bounced the light from the low ceiling. I got the correct flash power from trial and error. BTW the camera was in a tripod and triggered via remote shutter( I'm in the picture)
