We'll be using this for wedding night pictorial background.

What is the best material for backdrop such as this one in Oscars?

see their backdrop here:

Option 1: TARP: I'm thinking of a tarpaulin (for it's easy to print and widely available) but it's reflective to flash, (the printer suggested to print on the rough side of the tarp but I'm not convinced, it's still reflective)

Option 2: CLOTH: It's non-reflective but the printing will gonna be a problem because we are planning a layout like this.http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/The-Notebook-the-notebook-437419_1024_768.jpg (http://images.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/The-Notebook-the-notebook-437419_1024_768.jpg)

What are you guys' advice? Thanks in advance. Are there large-scale cloth printer? say 8 feet x 10 feet.

I'm not sure but you may want to use a seamless paper... ;)

hi jerson,

im not sure if the printer you spoke with also mentioned the tarps also come in MATTE finish. it is bit more expensive than the regular kind but has its advantages.

you can also cut down the surface reflections by placing your lights optimally. some even use CPL, but that's really going tax your strobes.

good luck on your weeding shoot!

Use an artist canvas and ask an artist to paint whatever effect you want to show on your pictures. Most portrait photographers will throw a painted backdrop a bit out of focus to achieve realism

tnx Ray, MATTE finish? this is new for me.

Regarding lights off-cama, yes may that's possible, but we want the backdrop itself to be friendly even to the snapshooters during the ceremony.
