Happy New Year Everyone. Here is the cover of our first issue of 2007. This issue may go down as a collectors item. The cover image is courtesy of none other than Andrzej Dragan. For those who linger around internet photography circles, the name Dragan has reached legend status. Dragan was kind enough to grant DPP an exclusive interview and in the article we reveal a little more about the person behind those iconic images.

This issue features more portraiture articles coming from our very own Manny Librodo who shares with our readers his secrets to capturing award winning travel portraits. The multi-talented Wawi Navarroza shares with us her insights on what it takes to turn the camera on to yourself in a first person article on Self-Portraiture. We also combine this with photographer Lionel Deluy and his portraits of Hollywood celebrities. Wait there's more. Issue 08 also has one of the best collection of images in our Readers Gallery with our theme of alternative portraiture.

The magazine is being proofed now and we don't expect it to reach the newsstands until around January 20-22. A bit delayed yes, but trust us when we tell you that its worth the wait.

i'm particularly interested in finding out the pics that made it into the readers' gallery; the theme of "alternative portraiture" definitely grabbed my attention.

and, of course, there's the feature on travel photography. librodo is one person we can all emulate here.

One comment though, why are the issues consistently late? If the Jan issue will come out on the 22nd, when will the Feb issue come out?

Can deadlines set earlier so that issues don't come out 3rd week of the month?

To answer Din Dins and Dave's questions, the reason for delay is because of the budgets from advertisers and the submission of their ad materials. Everyone knows how it gets to be around the holidays. Important issues get pushed back.

Feb issue won't go past Feb 20. We are hoping to get it between Feb 15-18.

The only reason why I stated this here is that most magazines I buy monthly are out in the stores on the first few days of the month.

It's available in Magazine stands. I suggest you subscribe though so you get your copy as soon as it is out and it will spare you frequent trips to the mag' stands. :Grin:

Hi Guys!!

I am sure you guys are squirming on your seats waiting for the magazine. The magazine has been finished since a while back however, we were on the queu of the printers which is beyond our control. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the magazine will be delivered to us by tom or sat. That would mean deliveries to the subscribers by Monday or Tuesday and within the week to the other outlets. I apologize for this but I promise you guys it is worth the wait.

We feel the same way....DPP to Printers! Anyway as mentioned previously, it will be out soon. We can also include a cd on the local version but it if we do, we will have to sell the magazine for 395.00 or more. (U.K is 895.00)

We are NOT including a CD on the issue. I was just quoting the PP since he made a comparison with the U.K version. Hope this clarifies. :)

Not really. The delay in deliveries started around the December issue, but prior to that it would arrive within the first 10 days of the month. I guess DPP will sort it out with their printers and couriers soon.

Unless you enjoy going to the malls and bookstores I would say that subscribing would be the better option.

im not sure if this is the right thread, but in 2 days january will be over and february only has 28 days.

usually if im not mistaken, photo-contest themes and the gallery opens around 5-6 weeks before the months' issue right? so i guess theres no photo-contest this coming issue (february) or we will be expecting a february issue on mid-late march?

we apologize for the week long absence, but globe was down in our part of town for some time. hence we couldnt go online as much as we wanted to.

as far as the subscriptions are concerned, it has been in the hands of LBC since saturday. we already shipped it, it should be in your hands by today, or tomorrow. as for the contest, there is one. we already announced it, its SINULOG.

with regards to the delay of the magazine, hopefully not, were already finishing the issue 09.

oh, my bad. i missed the entire sinulog thread re: contest.. :s

Finally! I got mine form NBS Glorietta and it's the last piece! Hehe. :D Went to Powerbooks Gbelt4 and NBS Gblet1 but they don't have it. Buti na lang nahabol ko ung last piece sa Glorietta. :D

This means that the National and Powerbooks staff are a little lazy to go into their storage room and pull out more issues. We deliver over 100 mags monthly to Glorietta so I doubt they would sell all those in just two days. Check again. They're there. :)

I got mine earlier in National Bookstore Quad. I was a bit bummed since I first went to the one in Powerbooks G3. DPP was out of stock since Powerbooks only had three copies. I wanted to use my track card sana for points :p

i love the feature on librodo, great pics and excellent insights from manny. hats off to manny for being very open and unselfish with his knowledge.

however, the interview with dragan was a letdown IMHO. i can sense the interviewer's efforts to get 'substantial' answers from dragan but his responses seem too guarded. i guess he was just being a little too protective of his craft (mas mahaba pa yung mga questions sa sagot ni dragan). well, at least his pics are great! :)

haven't received my copy yet. was hoping to receive it early since i am a subscriber from cebu. "excited na unta ko!"

i initially kept checking for the mag in powerbooks glorietta and greenbelt but it was always unavailable.
sir nick tuason informed me during the photoworld seminar to look first in nbs glorietta and greenbelt since they delivered there first.

got my jan issue only last fri from powerbooks makati to make up for not buying anything at photoworld (eventually did get a tamrac boomerang on sat though :-D). great issue, nevermind some proofreading lapses. i keep reading and rereading the articles, especially on manny librodo. excellent work guys!
