View Full Version : Sony A50? willy_palacios 01-11-2007, 01:49 AM whadya think guys? :Scared: http://aycu21.webshots.com/image/10500/2001966034938107515_rs.jpg Peter Jaena 01-11-2007, 02:00 AM It's out na pala. Wonder how much it costs. Siguro eto yung model na pantapat sa Nikon D40. Its nice to see that companies are now making affordable DSLR to those on a budget, or will not need the higher features of Pro DSLRs. yam macaros 01-11-2007, 08:32 AM i hope sony did something with the noise on higher ISO level. and why the hell sony didn't loose that black shiny metallic color? the body looks very plasticky! still 7D/5D looks and feels the business, couldn't they just follow the same formula? Randall Cipriano 01-11-2007, 10:11 AM Any specs Willy? I was terribly disappointed with the a100 last year when I got to test it. Even ISO400 shots had alot of visible noise. And even the 400D seemed more solidly built than the a100. Now with the a50, the body looks exactly the same. And what's with the 2 silver screws on the front? I never liked them on the a100 in the first place, but the screws were black. Now they're silver? Lorenzo Diņo Jr. 01-11-2007, 10:30 AM it's true that noise can be seen even in ISO 400... i have a SONY H1 and noise can be seen even in ISO 200!! damn! i think sony must do something about the noise on their cameras... :D Peter Jaena 01-11-2007, 10:32 AM Sakin naman the thing I really hate sa A100 is the 2 dials.... Nakakalito gamitin. Bad idea. yam macaros 01-11-2007, 11:17 AM DSLR aren't applicances. can't they get serious? i tought D80 & A100 shares the same sensor? then why is it that sony can't do something about the noise? or maybe... they rebrand the A100 to A50 & lower down the cost and is preparing to release a more serious dslr. I HOPE... I HOPE... tama ka yam... they must come up with somthing na that is worth buying not only because it is cheap but the features of the camera must also be remarkable... victor_vesuna 01-13-2007, 11:41 AM i hope sony did something with the noise on higher ISO level. and why the hell sony didn't loose that black shiny metallic color? the body looks very plasticky! still 7D/5D looks and feels the business, couldn't they just follow the same formula? I started digital photography with Sony Compacts, I was planning of upgrading to its dSlr, but the body looks so cheap plus the so many complaints about it, it made me think twice jose_deluna 01-13-2007, 01:52 PM I have compared the Sony A100's noise level with the Nikon D200 (they also share the same sensor)... the A100 outperforms the D200 from ISO400 up. Nevertheless, tweaking the D200's images in post-processing would yield a noise-free image. There's really no point to compare them, it's with the software algorithm that could have affected the difference on in-camera processing for both cameras. IMHO, they are both excellent cameras. Using my Canon 400D, noise is pretty much elliminated (or minimized) at ISO400+ (benefit of the CMOS sensor). With regards to noise, I would still prefer images that can accommodate the right amount of noise (detail highlights vs. plasticky images). Anyway, noise can be cleaned much better in Photoshop or other post-processing software rather than in-camera processing. In practice, I'm using the KM system (inherited by the Sony) for my landscape and product shoot work (when I need more details); and rely on the Canon system for my portrait and people photography work (when I need smooth skin textures). I don't pay much attention on the actual "looks" (e.g. color, build, material used, etc.) of the camera as it won't add to the quality of the images I am going to capture. I wonder why Sony hasn't released a high-end dslr body yet... the picture posted here is much the same as the A100, except for the added grip sensors (inherited from the Maxxum 7 film slr and the Dimage A series)... provides the same functionality as the eye-start sensor also introduced by Minolta, and also implemented by Canon. Peter Jaena 01-13-2007, 02:04 PM I bet the next round of comparison is this A50 vs D40 vs Canon ? Let's wait for Canon's version of the ultra low priced DSLRs. As for myself, I'm not really concerned about noise. Better a bit of noise than plasticy like Jose said. Heck my Sony F828(now my backup unit) is notorious for noise, but can deliver outstanding images that you will mistaken to be shot by a DSLR. |
