View Full Version : PS for iPhone/iPad; Post your photos here
Winston Baltasar 08-16-2010, 10:16 PM Someone in the other forum posted a question about the Photoshop application for iPhones/iPads. Since I've been using it for awhile, I decided to dedicate a thread here for photos taken with an iPhone and edited with PS Mobile.
Thanks to Christina Estagle, mom of Xeng Zulueta, who fb pm:ed me all the way from California that the PS Mobile app is free. :)
Post your photos and please put in your PS Mobile workflow, if you don't mind.
Here's my 4 year old, Billie, photographed through the glass wall of Kevin's Playground on the 3rd floor of Glorietta 3.
Workflow on PS Mobile (all done on the iPhone immediately after taking the shot:
- Cropped
- Boosted Contrast
- Effects: Vibrant

David Tong 08-16-2010, 10:50 PM http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=29790 From PS Mobile as well.
I bump up the exposure up first to get more midtone before converting to B&W then add contrast.
Winston Baltasar 08-16-2010, 11:34 PM Thanks for the thread, David! I remember seeing your thread many months ago but that was before I had an iPhone so the PSMobile thingy didn't stick in my mind. :)
David Tong 08-17-2010, 12:05 AM I'm just contributing to your thread (PS Mobile-related) :)
Winston Baltasar 08-19-2010, 08:59 AM I'm just contributing to your thread (PS Mobile-related) :)
Thanks again, David. Always glad to see your posts.
Here's another one of Baby Billie, while painting dolphins on our Camagong St. wall.
Just boosted the contrast and brightness on PS Mobile because it was backlit by the afternoon sun.

Winston Baltasar 08-19-2010, 01:17 PM One last one from my Strobist Portrait Photography workshop last Sunday before going back to work.
Photo by good buddy Bobby Panopio who just bought his DSLR. Bobby emailed me his photos last night, I checked them out on my iPhone. Did a bit of sharpening and cropped the top on PS Mobile, then emailed to myself in the office. Posted to flickr and voila!
Kimiko Miyamoto smile

Winston Baltasar 08-20-2010, 03:07 PM One more photo of Kimi Miyamoto by Bobby Panopio. Bobby emailed me his untouched jpegs so I sharpened a bit on PS Mobile then added the borders, also using PS Mobile. Simple as selecting a preset border. :)

Winston Baltasar 08-21-2010, 01:34 AM Kimi Miyamoto photographed by Ervin Hinojales, post-processed by Winston Baltasar
Here's a photo Ervin emailed me, shot BTS so no flash and underexposed. But seeing it on my iPhone, I liked the expression and the body angle so I worked on it using PS Mobile.
Workflow:
Jacked up the exposure and gave it a sepia tint. Then I used the Sketch special effect and finally, put in the grainy borders to complete the 'period' effect.

Winston Baltasar 08-21-2010, 01:38 AM The problem with PS Mobile is that you can't zoom in to check your work. When you adjust something, say Sharpen, you can't see the changes clearly because you can't zoom in.
Sigh. When will I have a budget for the iPad. Looking forward to doing PS Mobile edits on a bigger screen. And showing my photography work on a bigger screen. iPad! iPad! iPad!
henryjohnbebing 08-21-2010, 10:18 PM i wanted to post but i really dont know how to attach the pict without making it smaller... url?
Winston Baltasar 09-01-2010, 10:44 PM Henry, there's a sticky somewhere on "how to post photos". Suggest you use the Search function.
This photo was really blurred as my one-year old doesn't stop moving and it was in a dark corner of the room. Opened PS Mobile, added a tad of contrast and sharpness and here is the photo. Not perfect, but serviceable, I think.
Now that Rex looks like Angelina's Maddox, does that make me Brad Pitt?

used Photoshop Express's B&W Effect
Winston Baltasar 09-11-2010, 08:05 PM Nice, Bambit! You got the arched back. Looks like an illustration for the horror movie. Just wondering what it would be like if you boosted the contrast a bit.
Bambit Gaerlan 09-11-2010, 08:26 PM Hi Winston, actually I don't like the quality at all, this wasn't taken by the built-in camera program on the iPod, but by another app that could make the camera zoom.
I tried boosting the contrast like you suggested, but like I said the quality was not that good to begin with.

Winston Baltasar 10-12-2010, 06:37 PM Sometimes, the light is so good, you don't need much post processing. Just added a bit of contrast on PS Mobile.

Winston Baltasar 10-25-2010, 08:37 AM Bambit, cool shots, but how about sharing what postprocessing you did? :)
Here's one where I just increased exposure and sharpened on PS Mobile. I wish there was better control of bokeh on the iPhone.

Winston Baltasar 10-25-2010, 07:16 PM Today's midday light filtering through the glass panels was just equisite. Billie moved her head suddenly to look at her mom so I had to sharpen a bit in PS Mobile (now called PS Express). I thought the vignetted border worked with the photo.

gianviterbo 11-22-2010, 02:32 PM Hi guys! I'm new here. I'd like to share with you some shots I took using iPhone 4. I used Instagram and CameraBag as post-processing applications to give it a vintage look.

Winston Baltasar 11-25-2010, 08:20 AM Bambi, love your shots, but I wish you'd share what post processing you did on the iPhone.
Gian, what happened to your shots; they've been deleted? Are Instagram and CameraBag free applications for the iPhone? :)
Here are my babies, Billie and Rex on the sofa they destroyed with the help of our 4 cats, (now deceased). Cropped, made sepia, and added contrast. Also put in a border. All in PS Express for the iPhone.

Joey, I haven't tried Hipstamatic. Thanks for the lomogrified photos. Did you do any pp or did Hipstamatic take care of everything automatically?
