NINO, mismo. this's one of the places we could visit around GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) dito sa middle east. in fact, marami pang points of interests lalo na dito sa saudi arabia. exploration lang ang kailangan and quite a bit of time.

hey! an f1 weekend sounds fun.
try to get passes to the paddock club if you can and the pit walk through a sponsor - free food at the paddock and prime photo op at the pit lane. too bad i took crappy pics when i went to monza but i had like 2 shots from 3 rolls that i framed from that weekend.
good luck!

i believed there are photo marshals around that you could ask from whom you could get that badge. but impossible to get that though they have official photogs that will cover the race. i haven't tried lurking around the pit area. but let's see. :-) there are workarounds.

if the club will allow us to shoot, especially in their wells. :--) let's see. but formula1 management allows any make of camera to get your desiring photos as long as it is for personal use.

in addition to that, there was no news article, but that is the reason with somebody if they are trying to not to allow you and your camera/s in the event.

Wow, I can't wait to see your photos!!!

I'd love to shoot a Formula 1 race.

din, bumping to you again on a different thread.

the closes to us would be malaysia, it was sold-out this year (jan. pa lang) so the next one would be next year. If the singapore race will push through this would be the best to shoot our first F1 race, especially for panning, night street race siya (though ths race is still in the proposal stage).

guys do share your Bahrain shots, looking forward to it.

@yuri, let me know if you bump into Schumi ( if he's there ).:)

Agreed. I was able to bring in a 70-200mm. Also heard that there was a ban in Sepang on lenses longer than 200mm, but I was shooting with some guy from HK with a 300mm prime lens (monster, but not as monstrous as the one in James Deakin's pic).

Sepang only bans video cameras, but I saw more than a few people with video cameras at the grand stands.

So, did anyone go to the Bahrain GP and take pics?

Yuri O. Oira
04-18-2007, 01:29 AM
Damn, Nobody restricted somebody! Sayang, I was looking for a shop to have 400mm rented last Saturday (the second day for the final qualification session of F1). 70-200mm was just a backup for the motorsports photogs.

not so lucky but there were some photos we have taken and could share from the Main Grandstand facaing the tarmac and the pit area, one of the VIP sites :-), and from the stage 1 block A of the University Grandstand facing the Turn 1 corner.

more practice talaga kailangan. didn't get much of the frontal approach. more of the high angled perspective.

sa ingay & tulin of the fast vehicles, we ended up staring at them for all 57 laps they made.

the winners of BIC F1 Race 2007 ... from the Sepang, Felipe Massa finished on fifth. Now, Ferrari paid tribute to Massa ... from left Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) 2nd , Felipe Massa 1st (Ferrari), Kimi Raeikkonnen 3rd (Ferrari).

Found out the hard way that 70-200mm was not really enough to get close up. Needed a 1.4x teleconverter at least, but ran out of budget, haha.

At least you got a podium pic!

Nice fan pics, the fans (especially the European ones) add to the atmosphere. I've got my share from Sepang and post them when I've got time.

Thanks for sharing.

just wondering, are spectators able to move around the grounds during the race or are they pretty much stuck in their seats/assigned areas? Too bad about the grid girls being fully dressed :D

Patrick.Te Seng
04-18-2007, 10:14 AM
Not sure about Bahrain, but in Sepang the spectator/seating areas are separate (you'll need your ticket to get in) from the public area where the exhibits and various merchandise stalls are. In the latter, people are free to mill about, even if the race is going on.

Yuri O. Oira

patrick, ma' man. yes, it was the same rule. you have to show your ticket/s to the public area gates where you could buy souvenirs and talk to everyone :--). the public area of BIC is located at the back of the main grandstand.

here's a sample that we took at the university grandstand that you could see TURN 1 from the START/FINISH. mmmm, please this is a view from the viewfinder of the camera, no cropping at this time.

giovanni, you could move around within your ticket block on a particular stand, that is if the usher/s will let you. of course, charm and friendly approach could make them feel that you really need to cover a subject. usually, they will not allow you to hinder everyone at your back watching the show.

Never been to an F1 race but thinking of going to the USGP race here, probably next year. My race track experience here in the US have been the MotoGP and the enduro races. On both, I'm pretty much able to move around the track and shoot at different vantage points.
