I recently bought Panasonic GF1, I think it's only about a week old. I used it several days ago and everything was okay.

Monday this week I used it to shoot videos. I started shooting from 9am and ended at 3pm, but not continuous because I had to go to other locations. I noticed that the camera was becoming warmer. After using it I kept it in its case.

After that, it was only a while ago when I took it out from it's case and I was alarmed because it smelled really bad, like as if it was burnt.

Has anyone experienced this before? Should I have it checked? :Scared:

Thanks in advance,
Anna

Yes it's still working, taking videos and photos but the burnt smell is really alarming. I brought it back to the store and they said that it wasn't normal and that it's their first time to experience such problem. They said they will have the unit replaced if it's beyond repair.

After 2 weeks I got my GF1 back, the vendor (Henry's at Hidalgo) said that they didn't repair it because there was nothing wrong with it. But it still stinks. I asked them why does it smell burnt and they said that it was normal, they even had me smell other GF1 units, they kinda smelled the same but my camera's smell was really strong. I wasn't convinced with what they did, so I went to another shop in Hidalgo and asked if they accept repairs, the man asked me where I bought my camera and said that I bought it at Henry's, when he heard me say that he didn't want to repair my camera. He said that they don't accept camera repairs if the product was bought in Henry's.

He asked me what was wrong with it and told him about the burnt smell. He said that the wires inside the camera might got burned.

I called Henry's and told them that I wasn't convinced with what they did so I asked them if I can have it checked by the Panasonic service center, the store owner told me that if I do that the one year warranty will be void.

Can anyone tell me what I should do? I'm really worried about my camera.

I suggest you meet with somebody with the GF1 who has used it for a while already and compare your units.
