Hi DPP Members

Our wonderful supporter CALTEX does it again. After their wonderful support of the Hot Air Balloon Festival they are now sponsoring the upcoming TRANSPORTSHOW.
A special contest has been created for DPP members who plan to attend this show.

Some Details:

Dates: April 21-25
Venue: Megamall Megatrade Center
Entrance Fee: P 60 That is the gate entrance. Everyone has to pay that.


Photo Contest

Three Themes
1. Details
2. Vintage
3. Human Interest

Daily Winners: Three winners per Theme Per Day

Final Winners: Daily winners will be included in the final judging which means that there will be 45 Final Photos. From these photos, judges will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places across all categories.

Prizes:

Daily Winners- P 1,000 Gas Card x 9 Winners
Final Winners
1st- P 20,000 Gas Card
2nd- P 10,000 Gas Card
3rd- P 5,000 Gas Card

We are working with other sponsors also and will shortly be announcing other possible prizes.

The TRANSPORTSHOW is the country's leading show for auto afficionados. You will see almost everything there from new cars, to vintage, to detailing, to everything.

Shooting conditions won't be easy because there will be crowds and lighting that you may not be able to control. Space may also be tight. The winning photographers will be very creative and will know how to shoot under such conditions.

Caltex has a large booth at the show. DPP Photographers should go to the booth to pick up a PHOTOGRAPHERS PASS that will allow you better access to photograph. We're asking the organizers if we can get behind the ropes.

You will be able to submit your images at the CALTEX booth .

A big thanks again to CALTEX and of course to Ickhoy De Leon for his unwavering support of DPP.

as far as I could know, it would be similar to the HAB contest, JPGs will be submitted. :D. I'll be on the 24th

After entering you should go to the Caltex booth and register. You will then be given a Photographers pass that should allow you to go behind the ropes to take photos. This should give you a little more space to shoot. For those of you who have never attended the TRANSPORTSHOW, it can get very crowded. So take advantage of whatever extra space getting behind the ropes can give you.

Caltex will have a computer setup in the booth where your images can be dragged into a hard drive for judging and printing purposes.

You will then be given a Photographers pass that should allow you to go behind the ropes to take photos.

Is the Photographer's Pass valid only for one day?

Lets say I got a pass on the first day, should I get another pass to take photos on the second, third, fourth, and last day of the event?

Yes its only valid for the day (or even shorter as it depends on how long you will shoot). Once you register, you need to leave a valid ID in the Caltex booth, which you will get back after you surrender the Caltex-DPP Transportshow photo pass.

IDs are on a 1st come 1st serve basis. :)

Hi Paul,

There will be a maximum of 100 IDs out on the same time. This is done to ensure that we dont get to crowd the cars and would guarantee a photographer access (there are around a 100 car exhibitors).

But then again , the pass is for access only to some of the cars that are cordoned-off (some in fact have no cordon). So in the event that the passes are all out when you arrive, you can still shoot and submit photos in the caltex booth:)

Yeah it was nice to bump into you also. From my understanding the vintage photos are to be submitted in monochrome. Black and white, sepia or any shade you want so long as its just one color, not necessarily just black and white :)

Just got back from the show. Really nice show, and I like the cars on display.

I was floored by the number of beautiful collectibles displayed this year. Like what Ickhoy said, if you want to buy a car, there was another show for that. But if you want a truly marvelous time going through the passion for car restoration and modification, Transport Show 2010 has to be it.

There was a story to tell for each of the car. The history for previous owners, the condition it was before it was restored, the journey to the destination, and ultimately the priceless love and devotion that a true car enthusiasts would invest on his dream.

JA, i told you, Joel's the man. I also did what he did - spent two hours in the show - but i just ended up feeding my kids for lunch and getting Diego to shoot around the place for him to drool on the cars at home, you know, diego knows more about these cars than me.

I dont know kung sayo yung strobist umbrella i saw in the event, quality light is one of the most important ingredient in creating quality images. Also, I never got a chance to thank Ickhoy and the rest of the Caltex Brand Team for putting up another great event for photographers. Its nice to have contests like this that pertains more to capturing the image rather than processing it.

Prior to this, I never really posted any image without any form of PP, but all the images I posted in this thread are straight from cam just resized for web purposes and am beginning to like it. No hassle and it makes you think about the shot more before you actually take it.
