Hi! Just wanna ask if there's any difference at all in using LCD and TFT monitors. From what I heard, TFTs registers blacks and other tones better (unlike the LCD's "washed out" look), and it is also used on Apple iMacs and Cinema Displays.

I'm currently canvassing for a good monitor for graphic work and photo post-processing. Since I'm not that adept in using calibration hardware, I think I'll start with the monitors first.

I can't vouch for Apple Cinema Displays.

But I don't like the current glossy screen used by the Apple iMacs. It's good for viewing movies. But it could definitely be a lot better if we were talking about image editing.

a couple of weeks ago i got a dell 20" IPS panel and the difference with my regular samsung wide screen (931BW) is night & day.

out of the box, the color reproduction of an IPS panel is superb! not to mention better w/ different view angle

I can vouch for the Apple 24" Cinema Display, it is a nice screen with an H-IPS panel. I upgraded from a 20" Dell 2005WPA LCD with a S-IPS panel. I thought the glossy screen of the ACD was going to be a hindrance, but it was unfounded as the lighting by my computer can be easily controlled.

There's some Dell products being sold here, but I'm not sure if the IPS series monitors are part of the sale here.

Probably Raymond's officemates has links outside or through some distros.
