Hi :) Im a newbie here. I would say this is a very helpful forum. There is something i wanna know though. Can you please recommend what is the best camera for a newbie? Is Lumix DMC-LX3 recommended for newbies? Thank you so much. :)

Hi staninamedalla, I am a noob as well and I think the LX3 is the perfect camera for you. Prior to owning an LX3, I had no interest in photography whatsoever. But now, I bring it with me everyday. Come to think of it, the LX3 is my 1st camera. HTH, cheers

Hi I'm a newbie too. I'm thinking of buying the LX3 or the TZ10 but I can't decide. Any advice would be welcome :)

^^ f/3.3 at the widest for TZ10 vs f/2.0 for LX3. That alone, for me, is reason enough to get the LX3.

with the price going down, i think LX3 will suite you well.

My friend was telling me that the LX3 is a better buy because of the options for manual settings. But what about the zoom? The TZ10 has a 12x optical zoom vs. the LX3 which only has 2.5x. (I've seen LX3s selling 18k and TZ10s selling for 17.5k, both online.)

I also just found this comparison of the LX3 vs. the TZ7, the TZ10's older sibling:

zoom range will depend on what you shoot :)

If you want outdoor landscapes and indoor family shots go for the lx3, but if you want outdoor candid shots, go for the TZ10. Depends on what you shoot.

Id personally prefer the LX3 due to its fast lens, and i dont need that much zoom :)

Thank you, that was quite helpful. I'll go for the TZ10 then for my needs. Maybe in the future, I'll want something like the LX3. I hear a newer version is in the works.
