What tripod head do you use? Ballhead or Pan-Tilt type? Why?

Im using a ballhead...Arca swiss to be exact.. I have used both, I prefer the ballhead type because of it's simplicity...and handles well for big lenses...

Imho..

Ballhead for convenience. Got a moderately-priced Giottos model. I agree with Ruel, simple to use indeed.

Tried a Pan-Tilt and I found it to be too much of a hassle with the multiple knobs.

I'm using a ballhead (Kirk BH-3).

Why? -That seems to be the general concensus of every photography forum I've been to so why go against the flow. I'm fairly happy with mine but I think I'm ready for an upgrade since the BH-3 creeps a little when I mount a heavier lens.

Started out with some Manfrotto ball heads, but ended up getting a geared pan and tilt, so I can make precise changes to specific axis without changing the other axis (when critical framing is required).

Ballheads for me. I use the Manfrotto 484RC -- very compact, light and can support a camera with a 70-200 f4L.

right now i'm using a Slick AMT tripod and monopod but i want to shift to a ballhead.

what is a moderately priced, portable, tripod and ballhead combo that can support D200 with grip and a 70-200mm lens?

thanks for any suggestion. I wanna buy before the year ends. :)

Have the same ballhead... can still support my heaviest set-up. I used to have a pan-tilt type but sold it, too bulky. I prefer the simplicity of the ballhead.

Is Really Right Stuff (RSS) ballhead available in the Phils? Where?
What's the best ballhead available in the Phils.? Good for D200 and 70-200 only.

I have both. I use the ball head on my lightweight travel tripod because set-up needs to be quick (before they shoo you away).

I use the pan and tilt one for official (and authorized) photo shoots, usually architectural shots so I can make minor adjustments per plane (horizontal vertical).

Both are Manfrotto models (forgot the actual numbers).
