View Full Version : DPP Forum Updates for 2010
NinoPasamonte 02-17-2010, 03:30 PM 1. Some minor updates was done with the forum engine, and photo gallery. Members should expect better browsing speed with DPP :)
2. Installed an image resizer (so as not to affect the forum table) and a basic lytebox if you want to view the original image size.
Will populate the list as new features are updated or added.
Thanks.
bingpena 02-17-2010, 04:21 PM great work sir! no more over-sized postings :D
one issue about the resizer though, is it possible to retain aspect ratio on the long side? horizontal images appear smallish.
bing
NinoPasamonte 02-17-2010, 04:22 PM Aye... increased to 500px. Hope that is enough :)
bingpena 02-17-2010, 04:35 PM super :)
.
Christian L. Sangoyo 02-17-2010, 05:14 PM Also noticed that the Today's Post is not limited to 50 posts only. Yay for that! =)

Ah, yes thanks for pointing that out. We bumped up the number of today's post search results since we got a specs upgrade for our server, can handle more load ;)
Paolo Dolina 02-17-2010, 05:24 PM Is it possible to make the width at 1024 pixels? Most monitors sold start at 1280x800. 500 pixels is small.
If Internet speed of forumer is at issue then file size restrictions should be considered instead.
JezerPetil 02-17-2010, 05:41 PM Thanks sir Niņo! Kudos!
Joseph.Sy 02-17-2010, 05:44 PM Good Job Sir!..

Based on DPP's analytics, we still get valuable visitors that have screen resolutions lower than 1024x768, also at this size it will break the forum tables.
Lytebox was installed to somewhat compensate the image resizer, so think of the linked images posted here as thumbnails and click on it to be able to view the original size.
Will take your request under consideration and will probably settle in the middle if ever :)
Thanks for the feedback
David Tong 02-17-2010, 07:16 PM Nino: May I suggest removing the 50-item search result limit? The search tool isn't very useful for those who just want to search for a term or two. It usually takes a seasoned member to narrow down options such as knowing a certain thread exists 12 months ago to narrow down the search results, which is not useful for newbies.
We end up having a lot of redundant threads with the 50-item limit.
NinoPasamonte 02-17-2010, 07:30 PM Hi David,
As what Christian pointed out a while ago, the 50 post search limit has been lifted after the upgrade was done.
David Tong 02-17-2010, 07:45 PM Silly me hehe thanks bro
NinoPasamonte 02-17-2010, 07:51 PM Haha, no problem :)
Paolo Dolina 02-18-2010, 12:09 AM 640x480 to 800x600 to 1024x768. ;)
How about search items of 2 characters. Like say I am looking for posts relating to the D3, 1D or 5D.
NinoPasamonte 02-18-2010, 12:58 AM Hehe don't think there's a resizer that can provide those options Paolo.
Unfortunately we can't decrease the minimum search characters to 2. It'll take a huge toll on the server pulling so much data from the database if we are to allow a 2 characters search. Not really recommended.

NinoPasamonte DPP Moderator Good Morning Sir, Im just wondering why I cant post any picture, even the smileys are not responsive to cursor, the shortcut icons are non responsive. The text box, by the way. is white background instead of the usual black background. Thank you very much. DelphiMiranda
NinoPasamonte 02-20-2010, 10:27 PM Hi Delphi,
It could just be a browser problem, try and use a different browser and see if it still happens.
Angelo Mendez 02-21-2010, 10:13 AM Hi David,

Hi Nino, hope you don't mind my having a crack at this ...
Hi Delphi, try looking into Quick Links > Edit Options and then scroll all the way down to the bottom where you will see Miscellaneous Options -- there's a drop down on the right side of the message editor interface.
If you see Enhanced - full wysiwyg interface, the background of your post box should be black.
If you have Basic selected, you'll see just a white background and no frills.
Just select the interface you want and click on Save Changes.

Thanks for this po, I thought Firefox 3.6 or one of my add-ons was messing with my DPP experience!

Bambit Gaerlan 08-04-2010, 11:08 PM forum runner? what does that person do?
Not a person: http://www.forumrunner.net/
Forum Runner is a vBulletin and phpBB forum add-on that allows your users to access your forum at blazing fast speeds by using a native application installed on their mobile phone or iPad device.
Terence Uygongco 08-05-2010, 05:03 PM yup it is a vbulletin add on to access the forum via ipad or iphone. nino activated this for philmug.ph
NinoPasamonte 08-05-2010, 05:11 PM ForumRunner support will be available very soon ;)
Terence Uygongco 08-12-2010, 05:56 PM thanks for that Nino!
