I would like to know which photo paper you would recommend? It's probably best to try different papers to see which one I would like but just to have something to start with. Thanks! :)

What printer do you use? Reason why I ask is because photo paper reacts differently to the ink that the printer uses. Are you using dye or pigment inks?

Right now, the printer I'm using is the HP Deskjet 5652. :) Looking into getting an Epson printer, not sure yet which.

HP only gives good performance when you use their paper. Their printers aren't very flexible for other media so I wouldn't recommend buying anything else for your Deskjet.

Now if you are like me and like to print to different paper, you may want to look into the Epson R1800. If you are serious about your printing and photography this is the way to go. The printer can go up to A3. It uses pigment ink which means that your photos will last a very very long time. The R1800 has eight ink slots, seven hold Epson Hi-gloss ultrachrome pigments and the eight slot is for Epson's gloss optimizer. This printer specializes in glossy media but prints matt paper very well also. Its an all around printer.

Pair the printer with Epson Premium Luster and or the incoming Ultrasmooth Fine Art. You can't go wrong with these.

Cost of the printer? Around P36,000.

I use an HP 1180C and an HP 1125C, which are getting tired. Am also looking into getting an Epson (specifically for photo printing)...

I used to use just plain Conqueror board... but of course, that's just for making those cutsie cards. I'm really interested in printing some of the photos I took specially on days when all I need is a photo, when bringing your file all the way to the photo lab would be really tedious.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, and one last question? What is the CIS?

Hi Nick,

For the meantime, my deskjet will have to do, at least for those pics required in my kids' school. I guess I'll have to look for some HP paper.

I can surely look into the R1800, looks like that will be my next major purchase. It might be a better option than the R230 since it can at least print A3. :)

CIS - Continuous Ink System :)

I figured up to that point... but how does it work?

It works like a siphon. I wouldn't recommend it unless you like printing volume cheap photos because CIS systems use third party inks and most third party inks found in this country are simply crap. Having a CIS also means that you are very susceptible to clogs because air bubbles may generate in the tubes because ink has to travel a long distrance from the ink bottle to the print head. I say avoid it like the plague.

@rosalie

I use the canon glossy photo paper bec it is much cheaper and readily available. If you want to try canon paper here are the settings for the HP-- in the options menu for color handling, i chose let photoshop handle the color; sRGB printer profile;and saturation for the rendering intent while unchecking the black point compensation. It works very well. Colors are well saturated and bright. Just as good as the HP paper.

Can anyone recommend a Photo Printer for me? Do keep in mind that I'm a student so nothing too fancy. :) Thanks.
(its hard to sustain a hobby such as photography while still studying hehe)

Get epson r230. It's cheap and considered a very good photo printer.

things is, every vendor seems to call their products photo printers these days, from the small dye sub 4r printers to the large format giants found in OWG

for epson, we branded our 6-color inkjet printers as photo printers due to the extra cyan and extra magenta..

now that they have individual inks, you might want to check out the R230 and the R250....

www.epson.com.ph

around 7-9k

or you can go four our chepaer durabrite ink models -- the c67 and c87

Guys start another thread with a new topic please. Having said that, I vote for the R230.
