Hi fellow Photo Buffs!

Im just wondering, Why not do away with slr brand name groups? There are lots of nice pictures done by any brand of slr. Why limit photography exposure or knowledge to ur brand mates? Photography is UNIVERSAL, right?

Just post the picture, put the technical info., & ur gear, even the place, or subject/model. But DONT LIMIT it to just those who have same brand or slr model or place .

Thank you.

Having branded threads also helps a user with a problem with his gear to seek out other users with the same gear who can help out.

The threads you mean are in the basic photography thread as well as the various threads in the Specialized Digital Photography forum, where there are topics that are subject-driven and not brand-driven.

So yes, in fact, there are threads here that do not care about the brand of camera. :)

its easier to relate if you're using the same brand specifically for acronyms... like for IS to Canon VR to Nikon SS to Sony etc...

Thread Starter,
For them, photography is a social thing, like a tea party. The easiest way for them to associate with each other I guess is brand, and sometimes model. Sometimes you see them group up because of profession, class, or age.

Maybe we can limp, er, group together.

Just kidding.:)

Yes, age. Hence the YoPho group?
If you do start a group, I hope you guys don't call it OPhos.

As I have observed, the grouping (at least here in DPP) per model is mostly with Nikon users... D40, D3000, etc.

With the others, there's just a specific thread for a specifc model. But I haven't seen a 1000d, EP1, Kx, etc. club in there.

Maybe it's a Nikon thing.

Oh, no. No OPhos (I do not smoke). No OctoPhos.
The only 'Pho' I know of is a Vietnamese restaurant.

Seriously, starting a group has never been in my mind.

Cheers!

I am not a member of any particular group. I do not feel uneasy being in "somebody else's backyard" as long as I behave myself.

Sometimes when someone in the forum needs some information I try to pinch in my 2¢ worth of help (regardless of his/her group affiliation and/or gear brand).

When I myself need some assistance I ask in the forum. too. My camera is a Nikon D40x. My three lenses are all AF-S. My external flash is Nikon. My remote is Nikon. Naturally I search the Nikon section for answers. My problem may have been discussed there previously. If not. then I post my question (hoping that someone out there has an answer).

Some problems may be typical to a particular brand/model. If there were no such grouping(s), it would take me much longer (if ever) to find the solution(s) to my problem(s).

@limzim2010 (or whatever your name is):

I feel sorry if my post(s) have caused you some discomfiture. My apologies.

Please re-read my post(s) 'with a little grain of salt':
03-13-2010 "...Just kidding..."
03-14-2010 "...Seriously, starting a group has never been in my mind..."

Please, let us do away with all-uppercase-interjected-expressions.
