What is your settings with your shot with the kid? I tried different value under Aperture priority but I can't get a blur background...it only darken or lighten the background or the subject.

Nice capture, whats your focal length with this shot?

@ uly - shot that at 1/500 | f/3.7. I was a bit far from the subject which caused the background to blur. FL at 48.6 mm

@ edward - FL is 29.6 mm

Anybody here regularly use the supplied lens hood of this camera? The review is correct that you cannot use the lens hood and the pop up flash at the same time, otherwise there will be a dark portion on the bottom part of your shot.

What I did is I cut the pointed part of the lens hood to give clearance on the flash. The balck portion in the picture was now less visible. I guess my cut have a very minimal effect since my cut is just short. Now my lens hood looks like the one being used by he pros. :Grin:

I'll try to post some pictures of before and after. :Grin:

Hi guys where can i buy filters for for the fz-35 here in the philippines

The HOYA CPL and UV filters I got from amazon in the US for a different unit the GH1 are Made In The Philippines. It may not be hard to find one for your fz35. Quiapo would be a nice place to search in. Happy Clicking :).

Hi Vhon, I also experienced this but this problem occur only when you use the pop up flash with the lens hood attached. If you plan to use the flash or shoot indoors, remove the lens hood. :)

Jan - I just keep shooting. I think for every 100 shots, 1 or 2 came out acceptable :D This camera was my first upgrade from a 4 MP Sony so I was shooting everything in sight with excitement when I first got it.

Take the time to read the manual too. It'll help speed up the learning process. I also check flickr photos taken with the camera to get some ideas :)

Welcome to the club Ryan. The video on this thing is great. I used it during the last Disney On Ice. The 18x zoom and AVCHD, 720p combo is wonderful. I used an 8GB card and shot almost an hour of video continuously and still had enough space left to shoot lots of stills :D

On the signature page:

1. Create the logo -> Just typed mine and selected the font and color
2. Highlight it
3. Once highlighted, I clicked on the insert link button (icon with the globe and chain) and placed the link there

It is shot through a waterfalls beside the swimming pool, I just crawled behind. When you look through it, it is just an ordinary sight but when I look through the lenses it was amazing. I started shooting. Settings shutter priority set to the fastest 1/1600, auto white balance, ISO 800. The only problem is the apperture it is stock at f8.0 and it is back focusing. Maybe because it is water.

Hi Marc, it really depends on you personal preference and intended use. The FZ35 features is similar to dslr. I am not sure about lx3 maybe you can chect with lx3 users here at dpp. I have compared FZ35 and dslr and the features almost the same, shutter speed, apperture, ISO settings, scene guide, white balance and aspect ratio. And it shoots very good photos as you can see photos posted by FZ35 members. If you want a compact camera with a super zoom (leica lens by the way) and have lots of features, I would say FZ35 is one of the best. :Grin:

Hi sir! Thanks for this. I've been reading a lot of reviews for both cameras and I can say that they are both really good. What really attracts me to FZ35 is its zoom capabilities and the HD video it can shoot. Pardon me sir but I am still a newbie and ahs no idea of very technical terms that you mentioned above. :(


Maybe my follow up question would be where is the best place to buy? I've done some research over the net and found that I can buy FZ35 @ P15,000 cheapest. How are the prices at Hidalgo? Are there any stores there that offer this on installment purchase?

good day just got my new fz35 @ mayer for 16,500 with 4gb card since i used my card a bank charge will add on for 6% that will cost you 17,490 not bad. this camera is a good buy. hopefully to learn more on this camera since im new in photography.

by the way to those planning to have it installment there is no problem. only after the straight charge transaction you will call your cc for the installment convertion for the purchased that you did. they will send you a form to fill it up.

i did my own probing and found out that HSBC offers this one. you just have to be on a god credit standing with them as it is still subject for approval. what i failed to ask them is if there will be add on interest by doing so.

and about the ebuystore i made a bank deposit to them and then they deliver it to me directly sa bahay. you can call them first to check if the product is available and for ordering you can do it thru phone or thru their website pra ma track mo din yung order mo.

about the video yeah i think it is limited to 30mins according to their website.

we're in the same boat!

the lowest price i found locally is from kimstore.multiply.com and ebuystore.com.ph. Both price the fz35 at P14,500. It's the FZ35 and not the FZ38. Although it'sthe same camera, there are certain restrictions sa EU kaya naing FZ38 doon. And the main and only difference is that the FZ38 is limited to only 30 minutes of video lang ata. The FZ35 is limitless. WHich is grrrrreat!

Better check em out both. Sa Hidalgo kasi the price for the FZ35 is above P15,000 even.

@ ren - was in the same boat a few months ago. I went for the FZ35 eventually. Not only is the Panasonic cheaper, it can shoot RAW too plus the AVCHD format when recording video eats up less space on your card.

Guys, just bought an FZ35 last week... does anyone here know where I could get an HDMI cable for connection to an LCD TV? I tried connecting the FZ35 to my 32-inch Panasonic LCD TV via the A/V cable that camw withy the package. I was quite disappointed with the quality of the pictures and the video...I was expecting more...but perhaps with the HDMI cable everything would be much much better in quality?

What about you guys? What were your experiences?

About the video quality issue, i dont have a problem with that...may be u can set first the type of video/ to save with in the settings....i think there is two settings there....just my cent.

Just an inquiry. It's my first time to use RAW yesterday because i want to try HDR on photomatix. But when i uploaded the pics it turns out to be black and white with red in it. Kinda puzled with it. Plus when i transfer the RAW file i can seem to open it. Help!

Hello guys kinda new to the forum and kinda new to the Panasonic Lumix FZ35. I have a question regarding the use of difussers on our cam. Since we don't have a hot shoe, what DIY diffusers can you suggest? I tried using a ping pong ball before but it kinda attracted some attention. Your input guys are deeply appreciated

I'm thinking of disposing my FZ35, I hardly use it. I didn't even use it for taking pics. LOL. I was so into HD Video. And I only made 2. LOL. How much do you think the reasonable price for it?

guys, i need an extra battery for my fz35. any idea where i can buy here in manila? i'm going to hk on nov. any idea how much they sell the batt there and where? checked Tin Cheung but i don't think they have any...

I was thinking, what kind of "upgrade" can I have with this camera? I read on the manual that you can attach a telephoto or macro lens on it (?) but you will need an adapter or something. Where can I buy those? Do I need a UV filter? I don't know the size of the adapter so I can't buy a UV filter yet. Any other accessories I need? Thanks guys in advance.

hello fellow FZ35 users. I got mine for P700 in SM North Edsa Cyberzone. The name of the store is Battery Channel and they sell a replacement battery eith 3 months warranty. I saw an original one in Infomaxx Trinoma and it's worth P4500
