Just bought a canon 50mm 1.2L. Can any body recomend what kind of filter should I use on this lens ? CP or 77mm Clear protect ?[/COLOR] Pls. adivse ...... Thanks. :)

you have the cash to buy a 50/1.2L and you don't know what filter to use!

I'd recommend a B&W UV filter for protection.

This is a lense I want but I'm waiting to read the reviews first. How fast is the focus compared to your other lenses?

I wouldn't put a filter on it. I'd rather put a metal lens hood to protect it from getting scratched.

I'm sure it's going to be a joy to shoot it wide open but adding another glass-air element over it will reduce the contrast a wee bit unless you use a really, really good filter.

Its okay Mike. I am a newbie. Thats why I needed an advise. Ya I was thinking of B&W UV filter also. It did cross my mind. With regards to focusing. I find it slow compare to 85 1.2L. I did test it on front & back fucus. I find no problem. Just lucky I got a good unit. I have to Break-In it first before I can make some further comment on this lens.

I've used the 85 and for image quality is scores 10 out of 10 but I'm not a studio type photographer, more street/photojourn, so focus speed is an issue.

Mike regarding the autofucus speed. . . . Thats is my initial assessment only. Don't take my word for it. I 'll try more test then I'll let you know. There are some reviews that says it has the same speed with the 85 1.2L. One more thing I found is the focusing ring is not as fluid as the 85mm 1.2L. Maybe I'm wrong coz I only spend few hours with the 85mm. But to sum it up I am still happy with it. Thanks Mike.

The Leica M8 with the 35/1.4 may fit your needs - small, discrete, fast focusing, amazing low light capability and silent. :)

$4500 for the M8 probably about $2000 for the lens.

I'd expect all stock to already be preordered and the M8 will be hard yto get your hands on for the next six months.

So.... for the price of the M8 I could buy the 50/1.2 and 85/1.2 and have enough change left over for a holiday!:D :D

hoya pro 1 multicoated. (but i dont like hoya's because i had one and it was difficult to clean..lots streaks)

either of the 3 basta multicoated. =)

I do agree that Hoya is kinda hard to clean. Go for B&W filters and you will not regret it.
