We would like to cordially invite you, our dear colleagues, to take part in Lente 2 2007, a photojournalism competition that would highlight the excellence in military photography.
The 2007 Lente 2 would aim to grant due recognition to our photographers in the journalism and military profession who have captured heroic moments of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The details of the contest are as follows:
MECHANICS:
The contest is open to all press and military photographers in the Philippines. All photo entries should be in colored format; published or unpublished, depicting AFP activities in the Philippines.
Published photo entries must have been taken from January 2000 to the present. (Note: Prizes and honors of winning entries would be subject to recall for violation of this provision.)
All entries submitted automatically becomes the organizers’ property, as such, the organizer may require the submission of electronic copy as necessary.
All entries shall be in uniform size of 11x14 inches unmounted pictures. It should have a brief of the photograph or caption with the date and place taken.
All pictures entered in the contest must be accompanied by 5x7 inch-prints with the same cropping as that which was entered in the contest, plus one (1) 2x2 picture of the photographer.
All entries should be inside a sealed brown envelope containing the name of the photographer, contact numbers, email address, publication, and the clippings with date for verification.
Composite photos, trick shots or computer-manipulated photos shall automatically be disqualified. For verification purposes, electronic copies (in CD) of photos is required upon submission of entries.
Photos that have won in any local or international contest and Lente 1, are automatically disqualified.
Photos previously used by the AFP in any of its posters/information campaign, materials, are automatically disqualified.
Registration of P100 is required for each entry.
A screening committee headed by the chairman of the contest shall have the discretion to disqualify any entry found to be violating the rules of the contest.
The decision of the board of judges shall be final.
Deadline for submission of entries is on Feb. 15, 2007 at the DPC office/AFP PIO, GHQ, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
There is no limit in the number of entries in all categories. One photographer can submit as many entries as he/she wishes. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
50%-Technical Merit
Correct Subject: Does the photo focus on the AFP in a heroic moment?
Clarity: Is the entire photograph clearly focused?
Rendition: Are the colors vivid, sharp and realistic?
Composition: Is the principal subject immediately and clearly identified?
40%-Artistic Merit
Theme: Does the photo capture a truly heroic moment?
Message: Does the photo have a message? Is that message clear?
10%-Overall Impact
Does the photo have a very good + immediate + dramatic overall impact on the audience?
