I want to thank all of our members who submitted photos for our Issue 02. We have chosen several images and are now incorporating it into the magazine under our Reader's Gallery in the magazine. The images are wonderful and I am proud to say that we do have some serious talent in our forum members.

Now for Issue 03. Here are the details:

1) Theme: Open. You may submit whatever photo you want but we will pay special attention to MACRO photography since we have a 10-page article dedicated to close capture.

2) Only 3 images may be posted in the August Issue 03 gallery from each member.

3) Deadline for posting is JULY 5.

4) Again, the moderators of DPP will choose the images. We don't have a set criteria for judging. We just choose what looks good.

5) If we contact you, it doesn't mean that your photo will be printed in the magazine. We need to see the quality of your file first and will make the decision from there. We suggest that you photograph in RAW, convert to the Adobe RGB space and save to TIFF. Do not send us any CMYK files since you do not know what separations we use for printing.

6) And we will automatically reject your image if you post using a tag name. Only real members in this forum.

7) If we chose your photo for Issue 02, it doesn't mean we will not choose your photo for Issue 03. If the image is good, we will print it.

Our main Administrator, Nino Pasamonte, will be setting up the August Gallery soon.

hi, i'm quite new to this site and it's been great since i signed up here. now, the question is how can i submit my photo/s for the next issue? do i have to post it or submit via email, cd, etc.?

next thing of my concern is the size of the image in terms of dimension.

When the gallery is set up for August you will be able to post your photos there. You should post photos set up for the web there and your file size won't be large. If we choose your image from the gallery, we will then email you. From there you will have to send us a hi-res file on CD or DVD after which we will analyze the quality of your image. If it is good, we will print it. It doesn't matter to us if you live in Dubai. All that counts is that you are a member of this forum.

Does macro only mean insects and bugs? Maybe a better phrase rather than Macro is UP CLOSE photography. You can submit anything in the August gallery but we will weigh our choices more towards up close photography. For our July issue, we put some images that were not landscape eventhough we focused more on landscape.

Dami, National Geopgraphic often features pics taken with Electron Microscopes, objects magnified a thousand times, I think they inject radioactive dyes to make it more visible, the old ones are in black and white but the newer ones are in color, it is still different from pics taken with an ordinary light microscope.
I'm just wondering if photos taken with electron microscopes still fall under the category of macrophotography or should I say microphotography.

The file sizes shouldn't be large since this is for web viewing. However, if we like your photo, we will inform you and that is when you should send us your full resolution file.

Nice macro and up close imagery in the August Gallery. We are going to extend the deadline one week up to July 12 since we are a little over 60 images now. We are hoping to have at least 100 to choose from. Come on DPP members, lets see more entries!:Grin:

hi nick, new member here. are we strict with the 3 entry per member policy or we can do say 5?

i have uploaded photos to macro gallery and August gallery more than 12 hours ago and still i see boxes that say "image pending approval." Does it really take that long to approve uploads or something is not right with what I did?

I've seen your images and they look really good. We only allow three submissions per month per member to make it fair for everyone so please choose your images wisely.:Grin:

Regarding the images pending approval.....we screen our images before they reach the gallery. If it says pending approval that means that we haven't yet had the chance to screen them. We usually do this once a day but tonight we had our moderators meeting so didn't get the chance to check the forum as usual.

is there a way to change or replace entry submissions if ever? also, I wonder how I can edit/add info to the photos AFTER I have uploaded them to the site.

I just found out about the mag so needless to say i just found about this site. I just uploaded an "Up-Close" Photo but i don't think it made the deadline... Sayang! I wish i found out about this sooner like the 2nd week of the month maybe? hehehe..

yah there's a theme already.. it's low light landscape or stage...check d other forum for photo contest...deadline nya s aug. 19...dapat laging mgcheck d2 f not lagi ka mahuhuli sa submission.:( ..
