hi guys, cause of my limited knowledge about this stuff, im here to ask for your help. how may pixel/ inch should my softcopy have for it to have a superb output when i have it printed at 8"x10"? the software im currently using has it at 240 pixel/ inch, is this good enough? wont i be having "noise" when i have it printed? thanks!:)

It sometimes depends on the printer :D

The usual advice is to use 300ppi (which is a safe value).

However, there are some printers that don't require 300ppi. You can use a lower ppi setting. I regularly print on my inkjet printer at 200ppi. I've also gotten good results with lab prints with images with a resolution of 200ppi.

Conversely, there are some people who use a ppi setting a lot higher than what the printer requires. (e.g. 600ppi even if the printer only needs 300ppi). Anything ppi in excess of what the printer needs won't add any more info to the print. Also, this unnecessarily bloats the files size of the image.

I don't think that noise would be a concern if your ppi is too low. Image quality would degrade from lack of info or pixelation.

But 240ppi for an 8"x10" print should be sufficient.
