By the way, I haven't tried shooting at ATC, particularly at the Activity Center. The performance is around 7 pm, I think. My question is, are we allowed to shoot using flash at that area?

Looking at the agenda for the EB, I'm excited at the list of activities. Hopefully though, the weather shall cooperate tomorrow. Thank you Kuya Rudel Mabeza for the invite!

hi ma'am! based on my experience, shooting with flash is ok there. no restrictions whatsoever and shows/events held at the activity area usually has poor lighting so flashgun is a must tomorrow.

ill be shooting a portrait or a group of friends at Manila Memorial Park during daylight..

are those gears enough??

and what exposure.. ISO.. white balance.. shutter.. and aperture setting should i prefer??

at daylight that setup will suffice. even just your with your kit lens.. regarding settings it depends on the lighting condition you need to adjust accordingly.

the best way to know the answer is just experiment with the settings. dont be afraid to try everything.... hope this help :Grin: newbie also hehehe

Hi Villena,

Yup the gear is good enough to do outdoor shots.

Also try to bring a reflector so you could watch out the shadows in there faces.

Settings, try to shoot in raw so you could adjust the white balance. For me ISO 100 for the outdoor shoots are good.

Aperture & shutter.. its your own of choice & how you will make your shots.

your kit lens is enough to get the job done. im also a D40 user and when i shoot outdoors my usual settings are - ISO 200, WB is at Auto or Direct Sunlight, aperture and shutter speed varies - from there you just tinker with the settings to get the shot that you like.

we have the same gear bro...but most of the time, i'm using my kit lens...love to experiment on it...
i just use my 55-200 for sniper shots...hehehe

Try Tropical Palace inside BF Pque. Lottsa trees, grass etc... But they charge P500 for a photoshoot there.

It's become a multipurpose location now, for photography shoots, some of us use it often for airsoft games.

Here's directions from the way I pass:

From Concia Cruz coming from Zapote, at the intersection take the left, instead of the right towards Aguirre.

Keep going straight until you see a big school (Montessori, I think), take a right there.

Straight on until you see a big field on your left, right after the field, take a right at the first intersection you encounter (normally a busy one), follow that until you see Tropical Palace on your right.

If you're coming from Las Pinas you could try going there via Southland. It's easier and shorter. But I have to warn you, the BF guards might not let you pass if you don't have a sticker. They might let you pass if you leave your driver's license. As for landmarks, tropical palace is already a landmark by itself. Just ask the locals... :)

A good place for green grassy shoots would also be the American War Memorial, beautiful place to do shoots. It's not exactly near the south though, but still reachable. Hehe :)

Different angles and different perspective can bring far more light on decision making. Experienced photogs can infuse fresh ideas, broader concept and a lot of money shot.

Just a thought.

ow ok... you can't force a model/person to pose if they are not comfortable with the photog. It will really show in the picture the awkwardness and the expression that they are not enjoying the activity. Maybe they need more persuasion that we photogs are professional with a craft :).

Hi, actually I'm usually available both days but I would probably prefer sunday since I usually play badminton on saturdays. :) But I can adjust if necessary.

about the meeting place, why not in Las Pinas area instead of Starbucks Alabang which is Muntinlupa already. We also have here Starbucks in between Jollibee and Red Ribbon (nearby you will also find McDo). Ample of parking spaces in front and in nearby Jollibee or Mcdo. The new SM Las Pinas Center would also be an ideal place.

The EB date is not yet final, whether in Alabang ATC or anywhere else.

There is a category 5 typhoon(as they say) coming this weekend and i believe its not a good idea/time/day to meet. But, there is that idea of shooting during the middle of the storm - just make sure you take care of your cameras from soaking rain.

Safety first people. Let's postpone the meet this weekend.

Starmall is a good place to start coz primarily Rolly Magpayo & family is around - he's a good photographer and was featured in DPP mag before. He can give his thoughts and insights about photography per se.

To tell you the truth, i can't be intimidated just by anybody, the point is, that person has the freedom to say what he knows and what he wants. And everybody can verify if he is all knowing or lying, then from there, we can correct his ways. If the person is arrogant then we can simply stand up and walk away - go home and shoot more.:Grin:

That is exactly what i feared that we just evaporate (go home and shoot more he..he ) as a group before we can even start. Anyway, let us just meet and get over the EB (even if only 3 or 5 of us) and lets see who we can move on to raise LPCC.

As of today, I plan to take the group to Calatagan. Yup, it is a favorite place of mine, since the people there pretty much dont care what we shoot and how many we are as long as we behave well and pay the rent.

The last time we were there, everyone paid P1500 for everything. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks, Models, Resort. Im not sure sure if you guys would like to spend that much, so Im going to organize 2 funshoots. One in Calatagan and the other in our backyard. Again, this is NOT a profitable funshoot. We will have to pay at least one model and that model will invite her friends who are willing to pose for free, in-exchange for the photos we produce.

Now, If most of you are ok on Next Saturday, please tell me who have automobiles and how many can you accomodate? How much are you willing to spend?

I can bring a Isuzu highlander po. I think P1500 would be ok with me considering the place and food. Although I hope that the fuel expenses should be added as well. Next saturday is fine with me po.

I'll confirm my participation middle next week. Because i am awaiting a paid shoot confirmation next week, if it will not fall on Sat then i will join.

I can carry 3 heads with my kalesa. Hope that the horse feed can be shared among passengers.
