Another long weekend coming up -- I had thought of going up to Baguio go visit my kid there but he just announced he was coming down to Manila instead! :(

I've placed a link to this thread on my last post there and have requested the admins to close the thread. I have also PM'd Carlo requesting him to edit his first post to include a link to the beginning of the old thread. This will let us go back every now and then to where we began, and show everyone there where we have gone :)

Show up at an EB. That's all you need to do. And since we're looking at a long weekend I'm sure something will turn up. Visit this thread every now and then and you'll see.

Do they still have fireworks at the MOA on Sunday evening? That's one thing I've never done yet, shooting fireworks (with good results, that is). Now that I have a good tripod and a remote, seems like a good time to try. I'd rather not stay at the back of the MOA, a better location would be at the end of the eating places either to the left (facing the bay) or by that other building to the right. Basta places where the guards won't mind us ...

i had fun shooting those fireworks before... it wasnt that hard though.. even during the time i was shootin, i forgot to setup my cam properly... my aperture is small but still im capturing them. :D:D:D

you can do it mam bambit even if the camera is handheld.. i even think its better handheld so you can easily follow the fireworks...

also the guards at the back would mind if you shoot... kat and I even at the back where theres very few people around and the guards just passed by us....

just as ardiel suggested, using a tripod isn't really needed. with the fireworks going in different directions and heights, it would be better to shoot handheld for flexibility. i've shot the fireworks display several times with fairly good results. if you still opt to shoot with a tripod, wide angle, distant shots will be your best bet.

guards aren't a problem at all. they let you shoot to your heart's desire in the promenade area behind moa anytime of the day.

i'm still working on the rooftop shoot. the last one i tried to organize with dk encounter some problems with ayala land admin due to a small miscommunication.

From Lukban Elementary turn right into Angel Linao
From Angel Linao, left into Belen Street
Follow Belen until Paco Park.

Instead of turning into Angel Linao at the corner of Lukban elementary, we can go further down Apacible and into San Marcelino where the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons is (that's always worth a few pictures, pero I need to make paalam muna). Then double back on San Marcelino towards Belen and still end up at the Paco Park.

There is a minimal entrance fee of around P20 pesos per person at the Paco Park, if I remember correctly. I'll call again and ask for sure.

Starting Point: Plaza Dilao on Quirino Ave. facing the PNR station.
Down Pres. Quirino
left on San Gregorio
Straight to Apacible past the Lukban Elementary School
From Lukban Elementary turn right into Angel Linao
From Angel Linao, left into Belen Street
Follow Belen until Paco Park.

OR

Instead of turning into Angel Linao at the corner of Lukban elementary, we can go further down Apacible and into San Marcelino where the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons is (that's always worth a few pictures, pero I need to make paalam muna). Then double back on San Marcelino towards Belen and still end up at the Paco Park.

There is a minimal entrance fee of around P20 pesos per person at the Paco Park, if I remember correctly. I'll call again and ask for sure.

Otherwise another walk through Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife would be nice, since the last time I was there (and met Ray Andallon for the first time) was dismal and rainy.

La Mesa EcoPark

A weekend jaunt to the La Mesa Ecopark is suggested, although going there on a weekday would actually be more serene.

HOW TO GET THERE
Take Commonwealth Avenue towards Fairview. You will be passing the following landmarks: UP Diliman, Iglesia ni Cristo Templo Central, Ever Gotesco, Sandiganbayan, Litex, Mercury Drugstore. Turn right at East Fairview Subdivision’s Winston St. then right at Marlboro St. all the way to Pall Mall St. where you should turn left. Turn right at the first corner. You will enter the La Mesa Dam Guard House. There is only one road to take then turn left to the parking lot, in front of which is the gate to the park. The lagoon is further down the path.

For commuters,
take a Fairview-bound FX, bus, or jeepney from Philcoa by the entrance to the University of the Philippines. Take note of the abovementioned landmarks and get off at the East Fairview Subdivision. At the gate, you should find plenty of tricycles that can take you to the Eco Park.

Before I forget to mention it, weekend next is another long one, with sep 21 being a non-working holiday (Eid Il Fitr, which is the End of Ramadhan), so it might be a good idea to go somewhere for a walk.

I'm thinking La Mesa Ecopark :) We can commute there, if I'm not mistaken. I've never been there so I'd like to go, especially if the weather is good. Otherwise another walk through Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife would be nice, since the last time I was there (and met Ray Andallon for the first time) was dismal and rainy.

I actually prefer Monday the 21st because it won't get in the way of Family Day which is usually on Sunday, more chances for landscaping because there won't be that many people (which may actually be a disadvantage to our street boys).

But we can talk about final schedules for La Mesa Eco Park on Saturday, when we all show up for the followup photowalk for KALYE at Intramuros. Come on D60KREW! Be there! :D
