My suggestion for posting a new thread is not to use misleading thread names.

i think what the op means is..let's not be vague with the thread names. i don't think it's still a problem here.but in other boards..you will usually see thread names like...

"Take a look...and you will see" (duh.)
or
"Help!" (call 911!)

it takes time and effort to open the thread, and finding out that it does not concern the reader.

i think it's not a problem here... besides you can get a glimpse of the first post if you hover your mouse arrow on the thread title. you can read the first few lines before even clicking on the link.

thanks jouvet. when we see an inappropriate title, we'll change it. e

This is important specially when one is trying to find any|all information posted on the boards using the search function for a specific keyword.

Example "Free..."

Free Lightmeter? I think the OP was only kidding on that one...nothing is free when it comes to photo equipment.

Yeah Jouvet, are you referring to my thread?

Yes, but not limited to yours Melvin. Since this is an adult forum, we try not to mislead people.

sorry ot: dude, you are mistaken. 2 foreign photography boards are offering stuff for free...sort of a christmas thingie.

we post a photog equipment that will be given for free. the others can claim the item for free, but has to offer something in return

fun noh?

I see. I don't think it's misleading because it's really free. Probably it got your attention but it's not misleading.

You really think so? What about the replies that the people posted on that thread? Do you think they were not misleaded?

I found a really good article so I made it a point that the title grabbed the reader's attention. Maybe you should read it. I respect your opinion but I think there is nothing wrong with the title.

Hi Jouvet... if you refer to my reply at Melvin's free lightmeter thread... it was a GRRR meant for a little fun... I knew for a fact I read that article some time ago and I suspected Melvin meant that in the thread so I was not offended...

We all need a little laugh once in a while...

yup jouvet, you started this thread looking for an improvement here at the forum,,, let's keep the minor things minor.. making a big deal with it only leads to prob..

cheers:)

I agree that it was not misleading.
If one is searching for a light meter, putting "light" or "meter" or "lightmeter" on the search function of the boards as keywords will definitely yield that thread as a hit.
And when you read it, it is about light meter.

About that it is free, it is =)

Don't get me wrong, I am with you all way on making a subject title related to the content. It's just not that one.

Peace :)

Point taken Raymund. Melvin, if I use your "Free Lightmeter" thread offended you, then sorry man. But the title of the thread really stuck to my head.

No worries here. I'm not at all offended.
