Let me start.
Spent 3 days in Thailand last week. I thought of making some travel postcards. (let's do a similar project for Phils.)

SYMBOLISM
A symbol at a Buddhist Temple on top of a mountain. Whew! more than 100 steps to get there.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v312/davidus428/Portfolio/D2Dav14115-Elephant-Eye-Tha.jpg
WHITE ELEPHANT
Evidenced by its pinkish pigmentation and white eyes. The orange cast is a reflection of the late afternoon sun, soil and auto balance in PP.

BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI
There's a movie of the same title (1957)

Wikipedia:
The Death Railway (known also as Thai-Burma Railway or Burma Railway) was a railway built from Thailand to Burma (now Myanmar) by the Japanese during World War II to complete the route from Bangkok to Rangoon and support the Japanese occupation of Burma. It was so called because of the human cost of its construction. About 200,000 conscripted Asian labourers and 60,000 Allied POWs were forced to work on the railway. Of these, around 100,000 Asian labourers and 16,000 Allied prisoners of war (POW) died on the project. The Allied POW dead were made up of 6,318 British, 2,815 Australians, 2,490 Dutch and 4,377 from the USA.

Fuego Sunset

From Landco Site:
Peninsula de Punta Fuego, an 88-hectare flame-shaped peninsula in Nasugbu, Batangas, is envisioned to be a world-class residential beach resort - a community with a beach ambience and resort amenities at standards comparable with the best in the world. It is home to a rich array of natural features such as twelve white sand beaches, an assortment of natural rock formations and underwater caves that present excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities, and coral reefs teeming with a rich mix of marine life.

The Punta Fuego community consists of Spanish-Mediterranean-inspired villas, a Beach Club, a Marina, a nine-hole golf course, a Country Club, and casitas, all of which were designed by internationally-renowned consultants. Aside from the villas, the residential component of the development includes open lots.

The London Eye (taken 2003)

from Wikipedia:
The British Airways London Eye, also known as the Millennium Wheel, opened in 1999 and is the largest observation wheel in the world (a type of Ferris wheel). It stands 135 metres (443 feet) high on the western end of Jubilee Gardens, on the South Bank of the River Thames in Lambeth, London, England, between Westminster and Hungerford Bridges (Coordinates: 51°30′12″N, 00°07′11″W). The wheel is adjacent to London's County Hall, and stands opposite the offices of the Ministry of Defence. The Eye is officially the world's most popular tourist attraction, more popular than the Statue of Liberty, Torre pendente di Pisa and the Eiffel Tower.

You may have noticed I have a lot of my shots included the sun and some flares. Me thinks it adds drama. ;)

Borubudur Buddhist Temple, Indonesia

Wall Carvings

from Wikipedia:
Borobudur is a Buddhist stupa related to the Mahayana tradition, and is the largest Buddhist monument on earth. It is located in the Indonesian province of Central Java, 40 kilometers (25mi) north-west of Yogyakarta. It was built between 750 and 850 CE by the Javanese rulers of the Sailendra dynasty. The name may derive from the Sanskrit "Vihara Buddha Ur", which can be liberally translated as "the Buddhist temple on the mountain". Another theory suggests that the name originally was "Bhara Beduhur", an Old Javanese expression for "The temple on the hill". It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Indonesia.

HOOVER DAM

Wikipedia:
Hoover Dam, also known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete gravity-arch dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. The dam, located 48 km (30 miles) southeast of Las Vegas, is named after Herbert Hoover, who played an instrumental role in its construction, first as Secretary of Commerce and then later as President of the United States. Construction began in 1931 and was completed in 1936, over two years ahead of schedule. The dam & the powerplant are operated by the Bureau of Reclamation of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, Hoover Dam was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985.

The Western Wall

The Western Wall, or simply The Kotel, is one of the holiest places in Judaism. It is a retaining wall in Jerusalem that dates from the time of the Jewish Second Temple (515 BCE - 70 CE). It is sometimes referred to by gentiles as the Wailing Wall, referring to Jews mourning the destruction of the Temple. The Western Wall is part of the larger religious site in the Old City of Jerusalem called Har ha-Bayit (the Temple Mount) to Jews and Christians, or Al-Haram al-Qudsi al-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) to Muslims.

I was in Sweden in 2003 and saw this particular postcard. I loved the image but was shocked to see that it cost EURO 8, or roughly 560 pesos! So I studied the postcard and found out where exactly it was taken, so I took my own shot. hehe...i saved enough euros to buy me a burger in mcdonalds....hehehe....of course it's not 100% similar:)
