I just like to check how you take pictures of people jumping. What's the ideal settings (shutter, apperture, etc)? Will F8 1/125 do the trick? I just want to get some inputs so I can experiment with them. I tried shooting a few pics of people jumping, however, not all of them were in focus. Some of the people were clearly focused at the peak of their jump, while the others where blurred.

Not sure about setting, but continous shooting mode will help... It's hard to take the chance if you go single-shot.

Are you using a DSLR? or a point and shoot?

If you're using a DSLR the easiest way would be to use the center focusing point, set your focus mode to servo or continous. Shutter speed minimum around 1/320. Track the subject with your center focus point while he/she jumps, then fire.

Not-so-easy way is to use one-shot AF then manuall track the subject and when ready to fire, lock focus then fire. (I actually prefer this)

On a point and shoot, since you will be dealing with shutter lag, best to pre-focus then time your firing with the appropriate shutter lag in mind.
