Doy Tan 11-21-2006, 08:52 AM Definitely paradise... One of the places you can switch off and just chill...
@ Giovanni: It's in Palawan... and yes, there is diving... I just didn't get that much shots.. :(
@ Cez: I will try to post older photos of the hotel...

alex_paulino 11-21-2006, 12:11 PM Nice shots Doy! It really looks like a very peaceful place to unwind. Do you have any tour package lists with you that you would like to share? Thanks. I don't do diving but I like the setting of the island.
John P. Reyes 11-21-2006, 12:30 PM Great captures Doy. Did you stay at one of the casitas?
I agree with you. The best place to visit. :)
arnel_murillo 11-21-2006, 12:32 PM Yes Amanpulo is truly a peaceful Island you can call paradise. I bet you enjoyed your stay there, the island, the amenities, the staff's world class service. Did you notice the moment you get off the plane and meet the welcoming party, everyone knows who you are.
I like your photographs. were you able to take photos of the island during the magic hours? Hope you could post more.
tracy_arciaga 11-21-2006, 12:38 PM wow amanpulo.. mahal jan ah.. parang 50K a night.. is that true?
ana_mamangun 11-21-2006, 12:39 PM beautiful place! amanpulo is in my list of places to go before I die...
Doy Tan 11-21-2006, 12:50 PM @ John: I can't afford a casita... ;)
@ Arnel: yes, the staff knows your name once you step out of the plane... it's still a mystery how they know everyone's name... I've been trying to findout how they know... It's like fantasy island... Once you step out of the airplane... "welcome to Amanpulo Mr. Tan", I'm like, how did you know my name??
@ Tracy: it's in that ballpark figure...
@ Ana: definitely a must see place... Like I said, you'd be proud to be Filipino because we have a very beautiful place like Aman in our country...
vien_cortez 11-21-2006, 12:59 PM Very nice photos! I love the sunset shot.
As for me, I plan to save enough to get there sometime in the future. :D
Thanks for sharing. :)
caloy_samson 11-21-2006, 01:03 PM @ Arnel: yes, the staff knows your name once you step out of the plane... it's still a mystery how they know everyone's name... I think the staff at the airport (yes Aman has its own lounge in the domestic airport) radio in what you look like, what you're wearing and who you are with. That's what happened to me and my wife, pampered all the way.
Doy, your pix really remind me of how beautiful Aman is. But I'm not coming back, I'd rather buy a new camera:D
ps - $300 per day for a casitas, then.
cris_servillas 11-21-2006, 01:19 PM great captures...this is paradise.
arnel_murillo 11-21-2006, 01:28 PM My bad, sorry i just saw your takes of sunset nice. nice.
I think I already figured out how they knew your name. remember they ask for a copy of your passports.:)
I envy you, for having able to do a lot of nice shots of the island. Me, i promised my wife and kids that i will spend time with them during that vacation last summer. But was able to do some stills while we were walking around the island. hehehe.
Doy Tan 11-21-2006, 05:37 PM @ vien: a must visit place... worth it...
@ Caloy: I wish i could have a decent UW photo... it's just so much pressure catching up with a group of non photographers during a dive... I saw 4 turtles and 2 eagle rays during a snorkle at the house reef... I went down 20-25ft to try to take a shot... i didn't think i was going to reach the surface again... hehehehe
@ cris: thanks...
@ arnel: maybe worth another trip?

Giovanni de la Cruz 11-22-2006, 01:38 AM Beautiful photos, doy. I'd love to go there one of these days when I have somebody to share a trip to that kind of paradise :( .
alex_paulino 11-22-2006, 11:57 AM It's really very tempting, Doy. Boracay would be nothing compared to this, maybe in the early years of Boracay. I've been there twice way back in '95 and '96 there were still a few people then in Boracay during the off season, but I think even the off-season would be a little bit crowded nowadays. Nice shots, keep on posting.
Mon Corpuz 11-22-2006, 12:08 PM Nice for solitude seeker like me bu I do I hope the thread title be renamed to Amanpulo for better reference.
nino_carandang 11-22-2006, 12:11 PM Nice for solitude seeker like me bu I do I hope the thread title be renamed to Amanpulo for better reference.
Done, as requested.

The island is over 200 hectares and it only has 40 casitas. Even at full occupancy, you still wont see a crowd at the beach. The price you pay for exclusivity and peace...
alex_paulino 11-22-2006, 02:04 PM A job well done Doy in promoting/sharing the sceneries of Amanpulo to our fellow DPP members, I guess, would be making plans this coming summer/holidays to visit the place..
levi lacandula 11-22-2006, 05:31 PM great capture! i particularly like the shot with the beach bed and lamp.
love the tone and color treatment. thanks for sharing man.
i told myself to go to amanpulo one day.. hopefully that comes true one day..
its too damn expensive!!! :D
alex_paulino 11-22-2006, 05:34 PM @levi - like what I said before about my "nikon lenses wishlist", LOTTO OUTLETS here I come, same thing about planning a trip to Amanpulo:Grin:

jason_buera 11-26-2006, 11:44 PM awesome paradise indeed!
i wish i can afford it, let me talk to my wife...:D
rates? here you go: http://www.amanresorts.com/pulo/rates.htm
Giovanni de la Cruz 11-27-2006, 12:05 AM Holy ***t!! That's some prices.
paul_pasion 11-27-2006, 04:02 AM I took my family there in April and stayed at the Nature Villa for a few days. I have been to resorts all over the world and can honestly say that except for the airport in Manila and the plane, Amanpulo is truly a world-class resort.
dr.mark.dimalanta 11-27-2006, 10:08 AM wow amanpulo.. mahal jan ah.. parang 50K a night.. is that true?
I stayed there last year with my wife for our honeymoon. for a foreigner it is obscenely expensive, and yet they still come and keep the island busy. For pinoys we get a local rate which is more affordable. now having said that, regardless of if you pay the high foreinger rate or get a deal with the local rate, the place is truly enchanting and well worth the quality of your stay.
its interesting, there were people on the island along with us, but they can arrange to make it as private as you wish. you can literally run nude throughout the island near the vicintiy of your casita, either beachfront or treetop and still no one will see you. it is truly romantic and private. ill try to post some pics of our stay. great work Doy, thanks for the reminders and the nostalgia.

I need that pinoy price :D .
raul_echivarre 11-27-2006, 08:53 PM Just saw this thread now. WOW!!! Would like to see more photos, if possible. Excellent location. If your purpose was to promote this place, I say you've quite succeeded in doing so.
So many places to visit, so little time :)
raymondgayondato 11-27-2006, 11:28 PM yeah. very effective in promoting the place.
since early 2000, ive dreamt about this place as my perfect honeymoon spot..
:)
truly amazing. :D
andrew_zubiri 11-28-2006, 07:54 AM Thanks for sharing the pics of this "discovered" paradise. I've heard rumors that Hollywood stars have clandestinely sneaked into the island and stayed there for a night or two.
Doy Tan 11-29-2006, 10:41 PM thanks everyone...
Prince Andrew was in the island last week.
No, I'm not promoting the place... actually, they don't like to be promoted. They want to keep the place private. I hope they still let me go back after posting this in the www.
There is a pinoy price even if you are pinoy based abroad... am sure you can find Aman resorts in the www without my help... contact details are there... or you can pm me...
I just wanted to share this little island paradise to everyone... Yes, it is in the Philippines and it's very beautiful. Something we can all be proud about.
And dr. mark is right. The place is 250++ hectares and with only 40 rooms... that means total of 80 guest, unless some rooms are shared by 3 people... that means, lot of space, very few guest. Even if the island is fully booked, you will see the beach empty...
And of course, great service as well... well worth the price...
Richard U. Santillan 12-05-2006, 01:29 PM Amanpulo... WOW. I have to go there also... indeed a very beautiful island resort.
christopher cortez 12-05-2006, 08:50 PM i hope my wife doesnt see this thread as i promised her one day to go here hehehehe.....
anyone has a list showing the local rates? and is that 700$ per head per night or is that on a per casita basis?
JOHN_LIM 12-05-2006, 09:12 PM anyone has a list showing the local rates? and is that 700$ per head per night or is that on a per casita basis?
we only live once...that's what i keep telling myself...saved up a lot for last summer's trip to el nido and though expensive it was well worth it!!! spent lots of quality fun time with the family - nice thing was because of near-zero cell coverage, no tv etc., it was indeed paradise! boracay circa 1980's...
the rate sheet says "Rates listed are per room per night based on one or two persons sharing", so that's 350/head approx. P17500 per head per day. WOW!!! one decent dslr in 3 nights!!! :D
