You also have to think about service and product support and availability of accessories and lenses so that your system can grow along with your needs. willy_palacios 12-16-2006, 07:06 PM some jpg. samples @ dpreview user Well, after seeing some comments about the jpg quality of K10D, I tested my K10D w/ JPG *** output this morning and see how bad they are. The anti-shake test looks really impressive....good job Thanks! If it's any consolation, the K10D won't beat the low noise, high-ISO shooting of your 30D. It's good, but noise handling of the 30D is better in my opinion. A good thing is, the K10D's noise is a lot like film noise. I'll keep it warm for you. :) raymondgayondato 12-21-2006, 11:31 PM nice... :) congratulations on your new baby.. :D Randall Cipriano 12-21-2006, 11:37 PM Thanks! Aris Guerrero 12-22-2006, 05:28 AM No. I may change girlfriends but one at a time he he he. 3Q 2007 is a looong way off. I mean I will take a look at the Pentax system again when those SSM lenses come out. For now... I'm stayin' put. but you are having two girlfriends now! :D Randall Cipriano 12-22-2006, 07:39 AM very nice tests randall. dpr says image quality would be best from raw. soft daw yung jpegs. Thanks! I don't see to much difference from JPEG and DNG that I've shot. I quite like how there isn't too much sharpening. I'm shooting at default sharpness right now. So far, I have no regrets whatsoever. Me = Happy camper. willy_palacios 12-22-2006, 10:35 AM is there anyway you can compare it with other 10MP's out there? real world samplings baga :) Randall Cipriano 12-22-2006, 11:54 AM Try this one: http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/review/2006/11/28/5136.html http://pentaxlife.com/files/2006/11/k10d-d80-a100-400d-compare.jpg See the texture renditions. :) Randall Cipriano 12-22-2006, 11:58 AM Ants with 18-55 :D http://farm1.static.flickr.com/156/329700527_0f75fe1196_o.jpg marlon ordonez 12-22-2006, 01:30 PM From what I gather from the DPReview forum, the soft jpegs appear only when you use the "natural" mode - they're much sharper (and can be sharpened thru in-camera settings) when in "bright" mode. This is supposedly by design, it's just that DPReview uses the camera's default mode ("natural" setting in the case of the K10D) in their tests. I've seen the user test shots, and don't see any problems at all. If anything, my problem is how to unload some equipment to get a K10D ;-) cheers! Aris Guerrero 12-22-2006, 04:39 PM thanks for the info marlon. :) just wow! on the ants image. Randall Cipriano 12-23-2006, 01:42 AM Thanks! No cropping. :) That's the whole 10mp JPEG photo. Finally, please bear in mind: I am still fairly new to exposure and the metering system as I was constantly using the Digital Preview function (with Histogram and blinkies) to get good enough exposure for these shots. My hands are shaky after all those years of drafting and cadd. Most here would probably have gotten better photos with the K10D in this situation. :S Randall Cipriano 12-23-2006, 04:37 AM Now for that Banding, Stranding ekek that so many users at DPR made so much fuss about. Yes, there is banding, but only in High-ISO and grotesquely under exposed images also seen in other cameras. ISO 1600, f/6.3, 1/20s, +0.7EV, 200mm http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5688/igp0332es1.jpg There is a very slight hint of banding on the floor in the blue channel. The backdrop is printed graphics already with banding so it's not from the camera. http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9301/igp03322copyyb9.jpg With a little bit better lighting and exposure. ISO 1600, f/6.3, 1/20s, +0.7EV, 200mm http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/7347/igp0333ql4.jpg Aside from the reflections, there is barely any streaks left. http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/3045/igp0333copyur6.jpg Me = Still a happy camper. ^__^ victor_vesuna 03-10-2007, 11:59 AM My entry for the haribon Nature Photo contest http://victorvesuna.multiply.com/photos/photo/14/2 its one of the finalist and is on display at the Edsa Shang gallery till March 28 My entry to the Mobile Magazine Photo Contest first place http://victorvesuna.multiply.com/photos/photo/14/3 My DPP winning entry- theme macro http://victorvesuna.multiply.com/photos/photo/14/4 My PAWS and Madrid Pet Photo Contest winning entries http://victorvesuna.multiply.com/photos/photo/14/5 http://victorvesuna.multiply.com/photos/photo/14/6 Roland R.
