Could you beleive this news, (http://www.studiolighting.net/category/studio-lighting-news/) just after a few months from its launching, they are bringing the price down to 30% because of the new Niokon D40.

That makes sense, Canon can't afford to have the 400D between the better-featured D80 or a cheaper D40.

Great move Nikon! (Are my colors showing? :D)

is this true? then if it is, Php 46,000 - 30% = Php 32,200!

Most likely from the MSRP. So probably not much cheaper. Let's wait for D40 pricing and see. It just shows that finally their is real competition between the two. :)

What? I just bought 400D... sheesh. D40 or the 400D though, I think I'd still go for the 400D.

:D

But it's not bad... uses SD cards, has an ISO of up to 3200 but no 100, 6mp. Yey. It's pwede na.

i dunno if this is real.

price in hidalgo if im not mistaken is Php 46k for the kit. the canon display last week in megamall displays it for Php 49k.. so more or less, whether its hidalgo or mall, it will drop bigtime!

i'd surely drag santa over to hidalgo if this happens.. :D

Hmmm does this mean they'll be bumping the 30D's price down too? And given the new added entry level, will Canon bump the 30D down to compete with the D80 and release a new model to compete with the D200? 40D? @__@

Haha asa pa 'ko! >___<

My guess is... not yet... a couple more months to let the D40-D80, 400D play the market. But, I sure am excited with the speculations on the coming of the D3x.

I like the 30D's clap better which is more of a "clunk" than the 400D's "clinck". But it doesn't really matter anyway. Hehe :S

Too early to be specific with this however, from what my source tells me... DX lenses would still be usable. :)

Sorry... but I just read the original source of the information and they made a blunder. It's NOT the 400D, but the 350D that gets the price cut.

Yeah I think it's also the 350D who gets the price cuts for it is now listed on Amazon.com as 11% off its price.

I'm curious, is the 400D the successor of the 350D ? Or is it positioned differently like the D80 / D40 of Nikon?

Dell was selling the 400D(Rebel XTi) for $612 this week and the 350d for $505 so this may indeed be true.

Just came from Hidalgo last week. The 400d kit is now at P40k.

I always follow the 3-6 month rule. Any new product, body, lens, flash, or whatever, I wait 3-6 months after its introduction. The reasons are:

1. let the bugs of the new model iron themselves out.
2. let the price settle down a bit from the opening salvo
3. it makes sure that it's not just gear envy or equipment lust that drives you to get it.
4. prepares you to get that unit (save up for it properly)

Unless, I really need that thing badly, I never get anything, especially new units right off the bat when they come out. This policy has saved me thousands of pesos. All one has to do is simplly wait.

Yup, that is very correct on most electronics especially cellphones, laptops, etc.
