The scanner has been working overtime today Earl.......

Whoever said film was less work than digital was a bloody liar!!!
It takes 10 times as long to scan and process an image and as these negatives are so long I spent half the afternoon trying to make a holder for them.

I've found a new love, the first half dozen or so images I've scanned have me hooked. I'll need to buy a few more Holga's just so that I can have them loaded with different film.

More images to follow.

Mike, are you from Bulacan?

When my wife first visited the Philippines (she's not Filipina), we visited my grandparents in Baliuag and she fell in love with pastillas and we made it a daily trip to San Miguel to make the purchase.

Sorry for the O.T.

Nick,

I live in San Miguel, Bulacan but I'm originally from the west highlands of Scotland. Yes, I have a kilt and it's true we wear nothing underneath it:D :D

I'm giving this scanner a work out to have a few more images to post but I think the alcohol will beat me before I have them ready.....

Bukas na!

Up to this day, I still find it amazing that people like Mike, who comes from a 'first-world' country, can actually settle down, feel at home, and find happiness in a far-flung town like San Miguel. Must be true love!!! :) Now OT na talaga ito.

I visited San Miguel, San Idelfonso, and nearby towns back in 03 and returned with this image ...

I also found the glorious wooden mansions of the landed gentry from the turn of the 19th century.. and they're simply amazing! So rich in history!

Now, alam ko na saan ang next DPP EB and sino ang guide - naka-kilt with bagpipes playing ocho-ocho! Hehehehe Ahem.. back to regular programming.

You're Holga is capturing images in colors that remind me of photos my dad took in the late 60's! :) Interesting use of an 'old' medium! More please!

Way OT Jerry, but I rather like living in this country and apart from one or two gago individuals who are trying to kill me (my inbox is full of e-mails from them) life here would be sweet.

The Holga is a little plastic box of fun. I'm glad Phil Bebbington (www.terrorkitten.com) put me up to buying one.

last couple of images before I pass out....

Very interesting series. :)

I like your style Mike. A refreshing deviation from the usual pixel peeping stuff most of us are guilty of.

Have to agree with Jerry. The treatment actually has a nostalgic feel to it. Thanks for sharing these photos, Mike. I like 'em :)

@ Patrick,

Thank you. I'll post more once I get this batch of negatives to lie flat!! Thats about the most anoying thing with 35mm film, it all wants to roll up into a tight bundle.

I still have 3 rolls hanging in the wardrobe..... eventualy they'll be flat (ish)
