Does anyone know if these Sanyo Eneloops are now available in the Philippines? If so, how much would the batteries cost?

Are these available in the camera shops in Hidalgo already? I think these are 2000mAh batteries

I also wanted to get one pack for my speedlight, considering its very long shelflife...but I have not heard any feedbacks yet about this brand, only 2000mAH available, maybe makes sense to buy this as backup battery for my energizer 2500mAH as I dont use my flash often.

I bought mine in SM Appliance Center. P949 for a 4-pack. Its 2000mah, 1900mah nominal. I haven't had a chance to test them yet, although I suppose by not using them I'm testing their ability to retain charge. :D

By the way I looked it up on their product website and write-ups and they say eneloops are compatible with any Ni-mh charger. The eneloop brand charger with 2 pcs AA is 1,499. :)

Just a question, is this battery better than the rechargeable sanyo 2700maH? I noticed that speedlight eats up too much battery power. :( What's the best battery for a speedlight?

I am a flash fan and the answer would depend on what you mean by "best". For me, if you want the fastest recycling times and the most number of flashes, then I will go for Lithium Ion followed by Alkaline batteries. The downside is their price though. I have been using rechargeables for the longest time, with the fifth battery on the side in my SB800 but after I have experienced using Alkalines, I have now removed the fifth battery. It looks better, and recycling is very fast. If you are not really concerned about recycling times, then rechargeables will give you the best value for money. As to what rechargeable, I would go for the highest current rated popular ones. Mine includes 2600mAH Ansmanns.

The eneloops are very good, not just for the flash but for the battery grips as well. They're overall cheaper than 2 original batteries (e.g., 2 x NB-2LH) and packs more power. The 8-packs are just $24 in Amazon.

Eneloop batteries very EFFICIENT. 3 months of storage and non-use still not yet discharge and still with power. Very ideal as back-up. U dont have to worry of over-looked uncharged battery:)

Nyak! I went to their website and read about "other charger" clause, and it says this:

Other Chargers
Basically eneloop is a modern Ni-MH battery, which can be charged like any other Ni-MH battery.
Therefore eneloop can be charged also with other, modern chargers, which are suitable to charge Ni-MH batteries.
However, SANYO cannot accept any liability for the function or safety of chargers made by other manufacturers.
Also SANYO cannot be held responsible for any damage to eneloop batteries caused by unsuitable chargers.

Has anyone tried charging their eneloops with chargers other than Sanyo's?

TIA

I charge my eneloops using a MAHA charger. No problems at all.

On the limited liability side, I beleve most products will not recommend using a third party product with their product. In the case of Eneloops and a third party charger, I'm more concerned with the battery malfunctioning and (possibly) wrecking my charger (since the battery charger is the bigger investment for me).

On a related note, I see other manufacturers now offering batteries that are similar in performance to eneloop such as:
GP Recycko http://www.gprecyko.com/en/index.html (http://www.gprecyko.com/en/index.html)
Uniross Hybrio http://www.hybriousa.com/
Powerbase Instant http://www.powerbasehk.com/e/product/product_detail.asp?sku=150

I saw the Powerbase Instant being sold in ACE as a special package offer of 4 AA + 4 AAA + charger for Php1K. So these are potentially much cheaper than the Eneloop.

I also use eneloop and they are so much better than those energizer batteries that discharges so quickly. I've had mine for about a month and a half already and up to now I am still using it and haven't recharged them from day one.

Infomax sells them too. If you are nice to them .... they might give you a good price :) Got mine at SM Appliance store but it's the one that charges 2 batteries at a time only. I made sisi that I got it in SM coz I found out just last week that Infomax has the 4 battery charger one and they also sell batteries only if you like. Call them first to check if they have stock.

Got my 1st set last February and used it until April on my SB600 without recharging. I got through 3 out-of-town trips, holy week, manila intl auto show and a photoshoot with only 1 (factory charged) set. P580/4pcs in Hidalgo.

Just came back from Infomax to get more eneloops, I was ready to pay extra for the convinience of not travelling to Hidalgo................ but extra for me is at most P. 25 -P. 30 more per battery and not double. Infomax wants P. 1,200 for a set of 4 as opposed to P. 600 in Hidalgo, well since I need 2 more sets the P. 1,200 I will save is well worth the travel to Hidalgo.

Very interested in trying these out myself. Only have experience with Sony (still kicking) and Panasonics (used up and dead). Anyone tried comparing these to the GP Recykos? I saw the GPs at Abenson Avant in Greenbelt but they were quite pricey. Close to 1k for 4 pieces.

Php540.00/4pcs the last time I was able to avail it some few weeks ago from hidalgo. with the bundled charger, it's around Php1,350.00 if i'm not mistaken. I just ca'nt find the invoice but it goes just around those prices.

just how much did u spent for the batteries. price range of that in quiapo is from 545 - 570 per pack of 4. bought mine from hidalgo and it performs outstandingly well. you might wanna observe the item for performance but if it fails to satisfy you, then that's the time you have to return the product. (if the shop accepts it) but for a reason that it only charges 2 batteries, I dont think they'll replace the set since you just availed the 2-cell battery charger. there are 4-cell charger package, you should have purchased that to satisfy your requirement. but anyway, you can try to exchance the item for upgrade and hopefully they will accept it. cheers! :)

Is it ok to charge NiMh batteries on NiCad chargers?

sir, as long as it is indicated in your charger, it is safe to charge it. most chargers today are capable to charge Nimh and NiCad batteries. but one thing I know bout NiMh and NiCad is that they are not advisable to mix in one charger at a time. charge Nicad on a batch and NiMh on another batch. :)

been there. I think the shop you are pertaining to is "Elfoh". quite a good battery center. they got all the batteries you would ever need. even repack batteries that are hard to find. I think the price of eneloop there goes around Php560.00 the last time I inquire but not Php500. well, I don't know dude. price might have dropped down for now. by the way, I happen to inquire for quite a couple of months ago.
there is another battery center in farmer's Cubao station of MRT. the same products as "Elfoh". :)

Went to Hidalgo, yesterday, and Sanyo Eneloop batteries are still going for P580 per set of 4 pcs., in Hidalgo.

Btw, For those looking at a reasonably priced charger, take a look at Newstar (P1,150) at Electronics Boutique. Its made in China, but has a microprocessor that monitors each battery's temperature, voltage peak, etc. You can charge up to 4 pcs. at a time, even mixing AA with AAA batteries. I bought mine in Feb. and am quite happy with it. 2700mah charges for a little over 3 hours. Eneloop charges for around 2 hours.

I've had Eneloops, Ansmann, Sony, and GP (green), I have to say that GP really sucks, Eneloops hold charges well but drains rather quickly especially if you use flash at 1/2 power often or higher. Ansmann holds really well (I guess due to its 2500mah).

Since they all cost the same here in SG, quite pointless for me to go eneloops anymore.

cycle life is rather arbitrary though depending on how you use and recharge your batteries.

I use Ansmann 2490mah batteries. Good retention, fast cycle time when used in flash. Charger is #$%@# expensive, but has built-in intelligence, assesses the battery status before proceeding with charge. Does not overcharge when the batteries are full.

My two cents.

Just saw yesterday the Sanyo Harmolattice Camelion batteries in alabang Town Center. It only costs 1600 with four 2500mah SHC batteries with a Sanyo quick charger.

Are these really better than the Eneloops that are rated at 2000mah? Is the cycle time faster? Lastly I'm lokoing at the Sanyo official website. Strange but I don't see this product advertised there or any mention of it.

David Tong

Cycle time is about the same. I shot with a set yesterday in a wedding and it lasted over 800 shots before slowing down. Can't really compare it with the regular eneloops, I don't have the technical test skills to quantify whether they're better, but they're good enough for me.

the price diff is quite small, so i went with the harmolattice, but my main batts are still 20+pcs of white ene and 12pcs of imedions..

Nobody really bothers reviewing AAs hehe, besides it takes too much time to test batteries unless you have the electrical know-how.

WOW! That's whole lot of eneloops! :P True you need to have the electrical know how.

I saw a site before. The person used two external flash guns. With it comparing white eneloops with enrgizer and another brand. The testing was about the recycle time. I just wish i find something like that with the harmolattice. Hehe :P

2 battery packs (16pcs) already, + 3 flashes (12pcs), the rest are for household stuff like xbox controllers, remote control and toys for my son, clocks, etc. hehe.

There will always be one or two guys that have a lot of in their hands to do these tests for us haha.

I bought 4pcs of Sanyo Harmolattice (Maroon) in Battery Plus @ Alabang Town Center, it cost me P600, it works well with my external flash during the wedding of my friend :)

I finally received the eneloop pro version for the U.S. and Canada which is the Sanyo eneloop xx. I also have the eneloop pro which are made for Japan. Since both have the same model or part number, I think they are the same except that they are named differently. Eneloop xx specs from Sanyo:

Model 4HR-3UWX-SECU-BP
Min: 2400 mAh
rechargeable up to 500 times
Low self Discharge cells: retains 80% of the capacity or 1,920 mAh after 6 months at room temperature; retains 75% of the capacity or approx. 1,800 mAh after 1 year if not used.
Suitable for low temperature as low as -20 deg. Celsius.
Provides up to 600 shots when used with a point and shoot camera compared to 117 using Sanyo dry cell batteries.

guys question... is it fatal for eneloops when dropped? does dropping affect their capacity?
