I was planning to just send you a private message but opted to start a new thread instead to get the opinion of other members too. I have renewed contact with former friends after I saw their names in the portal page's "who's on-line" portion. Then it struck me that maybe, a "members' list" can benefit us one way or another. For example, I can use that list to invite fellows of our society for inclusion to a Photography Group which we are planning to form. This is an offshoot of the fact that we use real names here. What do you think?

If I can remember it right, we have a thread here where the members enlist if they want to. It also includes their respective day time job.

But if you are starting a group, better recruit members based from recommendations. :D

Unfortunately we don't plan to go that direction simply to maintain privacy of our members. Posting a list like this also makes our members prone to a barrage of spam by photographers selling their used equipment. This list is only made available to our sponsors if and when they want to announce the arrival of a new product or to offer special discounts or privileges to our members.
