I have read in some other forums that the latest ACR 4.x version that could open 5D MkII RAWs is ACR4.6. This is the version I have and still not sure why my RAW files doesn't open. Higher ACR versions 5.x are only compatible to CS4 but I want to keep my CS3. Upgrading to CS4 is of the very least option - its another $200.
Is it true that ACR 4.6 can open 5D MkII RAWs? If yes, please give me an advice.

Hi Sherwin,
The ACR 4.6 update readme does not have the 5D Mk2. Here: http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_4.6_ReadMe.pdf
5D Mk2 support is listed in ACR 5.2 though. Hope that helps a bit.
The sad thing about ACR is that it is not backwards compatible with older versions of CS.
You will have to work with Adobe DNG (free) or DPP to convert your 5D2 RAW files to a CS3 readable file.

Or Lightroom. That seems to be the only options left for you.

Thanks for the help Randy & Nin.
I am pretty worried about my batch processing. Normally, I adjust RAWs from Bridge using ACR, then I select images and batch process them in PS CS3 using a recorded action. I haven't tried using Lightroom, any advice if I can stick with my workflow for batch?
Thanks (anyone) in advance. :)

I use Adobe DNG converter to convert my files from 5D2 RAW to DNG so that my CS3 can read it. You can use it as part of your workflow as it also converts files by batches, as well as giving you options for labeling, numbering, etc.

I just use DPP, it's pretty good considering its free

@Wes, thanks for the info! Could you tell me if the DNG converter can transfer the control to Photoshop CS3 for each file being converted in batch?
@Sherwin, I think what DPP's batch does is convert the image to another format and you still have to open them in Bridge/ACR/PS in order for them to be batch processed. As much as possible I will try to avoid generating other files out of the RAWs except for the ones batch processed in PS CS3. I haven't explored DPP much though, is it possible with it?
Thanks guys! :)
