Slightly confused on the ff.
Read the site a while ago... what's your take on this

In short, if you're worried enough about exposure to consider the difference between a 12% and 18% gray card, then you should do a careful calibration of your camera and be discplined in setting exposure the same way each time.

Yup, that's why the safe assumption would be to fare around the average between both. :)
