View Full Version : Buying stuff in Mayer (Hidalgo)
Kirby Segwaben 11-16-2006, 09:16 AM I've been hearing a lot of rumors that it's not safe to buy in Mayer anymore. I'm planning to buy a Sigma lens from them, but a bit hesitant now because of the rumors. Can someone enlighten me on this? Thanks.:Scared:

What do you mean by "not safe" my family trusts Mon/Mayer's and so far all our purchases are fine, no lemons. Well except for one panasonic video camera which we were able to exchange with.
Kirby Segwaben 11-16-2006, 09:24 AM I heard that some of the stuff that they sell are not really brand new and/or not really in good condition. However, I'll take your word for it since you're family trusts Mayer. Rumors are just rumors anyway. Just wanted to make sure. =)

Ok to be fair, my dad got me a Canon Powershot A620 from Mon but the box wasn't sealed and well the box looks as if it has seen better days. But for a 10k difference, the camera works perfectly fine and the box had everything inside.
We trust him, he trusts us...must be the Chinese connection
carlo_mendoza 11-16-2006, 09:56 AM I heard that when he encounters defective products, he replaces it right away... Got my DSLR from Mayer as well, had mine delivered, as well as my flashgun. Works perfectly.
allan fausto 11-16-2006, 10:08 AM All my Nikon gear are from MON. I have 6 units of D70s & 4 D200 so far don't have a problem, and if ever there is a problem, MON says he will replace it right away and I trust him.

YOu can also try JT photoworld if you are in doubt sa Mayer.
Rolando Avecilla 11-16-2006, 10:14 AM Mang Ramon is great! Thumbs up to that old man. :D

You can't avoid the possibility of lemons. If ever you buy in JT or Mon, just make sure you can replace it if ever it's defective.
BTW I got my SIGMA in JT and not in Mayer's. JT has 12 months to pay with 0% interest. Perfect for the forever cash strapped kid on allowance
Alan Fontanilla 11-16-2006, 11:56 AM So far ... I've been okay with Mayer ... the newbie that I am. Got my two lenses, a 580 flash and my camera from them. And so far ... okay pa rin sila! Maybe they should be advised of this "nasty" rumor going around ...
lenard_po 11-16-2006, 12:48 PM Thumbs up to Mayer as well.\
A friend of mine got his Nikon D80, 50mm 1.4, SB 800 from Mang Ramon at a very good price.
karlo_inigo_lucas 11-16-2006, 01:00 PM Mayer assures his customers that he will replace defective units outright and i've seen him do so...i've got a friend who had his 18-55 replaced outright...Mayer just inspected it, and after a few minutes, he got hi new replacement...:)
Rolando Avecilla 11-16-2006, 01:04 PM Just be sure the unit has no distinguishable marks such as deep scratches... he will replace it.
Dys Santos 11-16-2006, 01:27 PM Just be sure to have the local warranty card in every purchase you make.
carlo_mendoza 11-16-2006, 01:31 PM I didn't actually get a warranty card for the gear i purchased from Mayer. He said that the receipt will suffice.
Now I'm concerned whether I should have a warranty card or not...
dave_trinidad 11-16-2006, 01:33 PM ok si Mang Ramon. Been one his customers for more than 15 years. ooops. Ok din si Ms. Letty (dating Fotohaus yun).
darwinandres 11-16-2006, 02:10 PM Whoa! this gave me a relief. I just got a Nikon D50 from Ramon, but the CD is in another language and the manual was photocopied. Could it be possible that I got a lemon? I hope not, but Ramon assures that the warranty is with Columbia Digital of Anderson and not the other one.
Did I just had a lemon D50?

Me too no warranty card, only receipt. My purchase came from a hard earned money. I just hope my purchase is a good decision.
Kirby Segwaben 11-17-2006, 03:00 AM Cool. Thanks everyone for your "testimonies". This makes me feel much better. I have nothing against Mang Ramon and I actually bought a camera from him before. It's just that sometimes rumors can make you think twice. =)
Oh yeah, regarding the warranty card...I've read in one of the threads here that someone bought a Canon camera, I think, and is having a hard time getting service from Canon since he didn't get a warranty card. The thread ended months ago and no updates were posted.
nap_alcedo 11-17-2006, 05:07 AM Kirby, most probably those units without the warranty cards are gray units. For a complete understanding of gray units, the pros and cons of getting one, click HERE (http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=2103&highlight=grey+market) and HERE (http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=1921&highlight=grey+units).
amboyguevara 11-17-2006, 06:03 AM have had 2 dealings with mayer's/mang ramon already. bought a sigma, canon L lens, speedlights and other accesories from him. so far the products that i got is all in excellent condition. based on my experience, i can vouch for him and his store. :)
@ darwinandres
darwin, a lemon is referred to a product that has manufacturing defects on them. getting a non english cd does not constitute a product being a lemon. however if your unit/lens has back/front focus problem now that might be considered a lemon. :)
Darryl Ong 11-17-2006, 06:43 AM I didn't actually get a warranty card for the gear i purchased from Mayer. He said that the receipt will suffice.
Now I'm concerned whether I should have a warranty card or not...
didn't get one either when i bought a canon 75-300 lens from him, there's supposed to be a sticker to prove of it's warranty, i think there's a previous thread about this, a canon rep even posted there to clarify things, will try to find it and post it here for you guys

To be sure, call Canon and inquire about the serial number of the product to see if it is covered by the warranty.
darwinandres 11-17-2006, 08:05 AM Thanks Amboy. I just hope my unit won't be defective for next 12 months. So far, my D50 is working fine.

Most probably a "gray" unit and the warranty that came with your cam is in-store that's why the receipt will suffice.

Did I just had a lemon D50?
Hi! Don't want to alarm you but if there is no warranty card from Columbia Digital when you bought your cam, this is probably a "gray" unit. Also, all the cams sold by Columbia come with English manual and CD.
carlo_mendoza 11-17-2006, 09:10 AM Thanks, so my Nikon is covered only by Mayer warranty? I was not informed by Mang Ramon that this is a gray unit, as well as my speedlight.
nino_carandang 11-17-2006, 09:12 AM Thanks, so my Nikon is covered only by Mayer warranty? I was not informed by Mang Ramon that this is a gray unit, as well as my speedlight.
It might be. Here's a previous thread started by Dys Santos regarding Canon warranty and Mayer: http://www.digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=1921&highlight=mayer
Cheers!

Huwat! Oh no! What should I do? Maybe I'll just pray that my D50 will this be ok after one year.
carlo_mendoza 11-17-2006, 04:33 PM Don't worry Darwin, I am with you... haha :)
rosalie_gomez 11-17-2006, 04:36 PM Huwat! Oh no! What should I do? Maybe I'll just pray that my D50 will this be ok after one year.
This is what I've heard... if anything happens to your cam within the warranty period (sometimes 3mos or 1 yr), you just have to bring it back to the store and they will take care of sending it to HK or Singapore to be repaired. :)
Brent_Co 11-18-2006, 12:00 AM So far sa dealings ko with Mayer, problem free. Sa friend ko, he found a possible issue with his new camera. He talked to Ramon, sabi sa kanya, "basta pag nasira, balik mo. papalitan ko agad."
Kirby Segwaben 11-18-2006, 07:51 AM Hey Nap, thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
JR Burgos 11-18-2006, 09:12 AM The school that I work at purchased all the photoraphic gears that I request in Mayer, Hindi pa uso ang digital dyan na kami bumibili, until now I dont remember getting a lemon. Anyway Kerby are you related to the Segwabens of Sagada
Tammy_David 11-18-2006, 10:02 AM I volunteered to be a guide/fixer to a participant of the World Press Asia Europe Workshop. She wanted to see some famous sights in Maynila. So I took her to the institution.

Nicko Evangelista 10-22-2007, 04:00 PM just to share, we once bought a nikon d40x from mr.mayer and we noticed that it has a dead pixel sa LCD. we reported it by phone and the next day, dineliver pa nila yung replacement as far as Taytay, Rizal. Pretty fast ha.. but ive read sa isang forum na yung ibang nikon na may CDSC warranty wala na daw GC na kasama sa loob ng box hmmm...
Alfie Burce 01-17-2009, 06:58 PM Hi! I'm planning to purchase an SLR at Hidalgo tom. I'm just a beginner. Which brand and model would be advisable? Budget is 30k and below. I'm thinking of getting a Nikon D60. Btw, may I have the contact number of Meyer store. Thank you!

Yup, I have seen customer scoming back and welcomed on there Cam issue...
Pinapalitan agad ni Ramon gladly...
charlie_co 01-23-2009, 11:37 PM Good for you guys, my experience with Mang Ramon wasn't a pleasant one. A very moody guy if I may say so. Anyways good for you guys who's had a pleasant one w/ the BIG BOSS of Mayer. :)
chrisianbclemeno 02-23-2010, 03:28 PM i bought my 10-22 at mayers and as of now please with it
CaloiCruz 02-28-2010, 03:20 PM I bought my 1st DSLR cam (D60) from mang ramon, never had problems with, not lemon and definitely brand new (checked with OPANDA)
after a year, I decided to upgrade, still opted to get from mang ramon even thought his price is higher than 200 pesos from henrys :D
why? because he's true to his word, as long as defective, he'll replace it right away. (based on other peoples story) good thing I never had problems with all my purchase
jaienavarro 03-01-2010, 08:45 PM Thumbs up to Mayer as well.\
A friend of mine got his Nikon D80, 50mm 1.4, SB 800 from Mang Ramon at a very good price.
magkano nya po nakuha kay mayer yung d80 sir?
lunell dy 03-01-2010, 08:59 PM is mayers closed during saturdays? me and my gf went to hidalgo last saturday and mayers was closed. and that time was already noon time
CaloiCruz 03-02-2010, 01:13 PM I believe they're only closed on sundays.
baka late nagising si mang ramon :D
jrvega 03-05-2010, 07:58 PM bought my d90 body and mb-d80 grip from mang ramon for 44k.. a very great deal if you ask me.. :)
Christian L. Sangoyo 03-05-2010, 08:17 PM is mayers closed during saturdays? me and my gf went to hidalgo last saturday and mayers was closed. and that time was already noon time
Mayers opens at around 11-11:30am
Albert D. Alberto 03-30-2010, 01:16 PM are they selling adapters and converter lenses for canon PS S series? I'll drop by there tomorrow.
rolandvillaluz 03-30-2010, 02:39 PM I bought my d90, nissin flash, tamron 17-50mm from Mang Ramon. All are ok. In fact, when I had the nissin firmware updated with JT, they did it for free.
ryanmamaril 03-30-2010, 03:28 PM I'll vouch for Mang Ramon and Mayer 100%. I got my D90 body and my Tokina 11-16mm from him. On my way to Cebu for a vacation my D90 developed dead pixels. After I got back to Manila (12 days after I bought my camera) I went back to Mang Ramon and showed the defect. He replaced it with a new unit OUTRIGHT no questions asked.
lanovickgrueso 03-30-2010, 03:50 PM I also vouch for Mang Ramon (Mayers), I also got my D90 Kit last December 2009, haven't had any issues since. I also purchased another 18-105mm Kit Lens for a friend, and he too has not experienced anything w/ his unit.
I just hope Mang Ramon would give a lower price to his 'Suki'/Patrons..
Other than that, he's at the TOP of my list for Cameras and other Photography Accessories.. :D
linusjcmlopez 04-06-2010, 11:55 AM does Mayer's have a website, multiply account of a facebook page? i think a lot of people would really appreciate if they put up one.
ryanmamaril 04-06-2010, 12:37 PM Mang Ramon is old-school...so the answer is no they don't have a website or anything even close to it.
olivermaddela 04-13-2010, 08:25 AM Mang Ramon of Mayer? i bought my new unit to Mayers, and everything goes well, when my Memory card was corrupt, even without warranty Mr Ramon echange it to a new one. They sell Grey unit without original warranty of the store thats why the price is cheap than the price in Malls. But all of their Units selling are Original. Their lenses are from hongkong, i saw them oneday the boxes with a seal of Cathay Pacific was delivered to them, containing a lot of canon lenses. Thumbs Up Mayers
ernie_monzon 04-13-2010, 09:34 AM honestly for some reason, i value people who are true to their word more than anything else.. in doing business, you won't deal with someone who is nice to chat with but not trustworthy. Well, as they always say, we don't have constant enemy in the field of business :D
gilbert_hufana 06-20-2010, 09:17 AM got my 55-200mm nikkor @ Mayer's (Mang Ramon) recently...the cheapest so far...:):):)
Mang Ramon is very nice!:):):)
got no problems with it so far...
at any rate there's a warranty...nothing to worry about:)
eric galvez 07-19-2010, 08:28 PM im a newbie! planning to go to mayers bks to buy external flash lens for my new canon 500D...i trust mayers!
jamesretirado 07-21-2010, 09:27 PM guys! does mayer do accept major credit card (mastercard & visa)?
dennis.pena 07-22-2010, 07:52 AM guys! does mayer do accept major credit card (mastercard & visa)?
Mayer accepts BPI credit cards. Other cards not sure but you can call them and ask.
jamesretirado 07-23-2010, 06:09 AM @dennis
thanks! decided to go to henry's instead:Grin:
josephacena 07-24-2010, 12:14 AM Thumbs up to Mang Ramon. I bought my Coolpix P60, D90, and some lens there. He's cool, but according to other forums, he's got attitude. And since I never ever saw that 'attitude' they're referring to, I don't care. I would still buy my things from him.
romzLopez 07-26-2010, 07:26 PM does Mang Ramon sell any kata bags????
ej_agumbay 09-14-2010, 11:34 AM how much is d5000 in mayers? planning to buy one
Alex Lapuz 09-14-2010, 12:23 PM I've been hearing a lot of rumors that it's not safe to buy in Mayer anymore. I'm planning to buy a Sigma lens from them, but a bit hesitant now because of the rumors. Can someone enlighten me on this? Thanks.:Scared:
Business rivalry perhaps? hahahaha..
rjdequina 09-14-2010, 05:44 PM Mang Ramon (Mayer's) is really staight to the point businessman, it's not healthy in some ways... After asking prices and some detail re: 550D and 7D, he just gave me the "tsupi" hand signal... that's not really professional for a potential buyer. So i bought my 7D from Henry's instead...

actually mang ramon really has that attitude that "if you're not going to buy go somewhere else" maybe for the reason that he has the lowest prices in hidalgo regarding slrs and lenses so canvassing first there may really not be a good idea. I usually ask other shops first then going to mayer's photo last. another thing is you should be sure of what you are going to buy before going there. his attitude may really piss you off but his prices are lowest in hidalgo. he sometimes gives freebies as well. ^^
Jhesiems_Balantac 09-24-2010, 02:49 AM i'm not sure if mang ramon has the lowest price in hidalgo. i also ask avenue first then henry and meyer.. they all have same prices
yohandelacruz 09-24-2010, 03:33 AM ^ actually, you can tell Mang Ramon the prices you inquired from Henry's and he may possibly lower it down further. :)
oyingpineda 09-24-2010, 06:06 AM i've known ramon since the late seventies, don't be offended by the guy, that's just typical of him...dami kasi pumupunta dun na panay tanong lang di naman bili, kaya kung ikaw man ang gawin nilang tanungan db nakaka-asar?
Darem Placer 09-27-2010, 03:59 PM I bought a lens awhile ago... Mang Ramon is A-Ok. Friendly or his in good mood in the morning, unlike what I've read in some forums... Tho I can't find some accessories I need from his store.
rolandvillaluz 09-27-2010, 09:44 PM I got from him my D90, nikon lens, tamron lens, flash. Everything still works fine
chester_paglicauan 02-06-2011, 10:30 PM I got from him my D90, nikon lens, tamron lens, flash. Everything still works fine
sir how much did you get your D90+kit lens at mang ramon's? and what are the freebies included? thanks.
dextertang 03-04-2011, 11:39 PM got my d 90 and 18 to 200 vrII lens from Mang Ramon, was very fortunate to catch him on a not so busy day. he even gave some tips in shooting and was kind enough to recommend what would be a good prime lens for the d90 and also explained the new sb700.
saving up to buy lens and flash suggested by Mang Ramon, ok talaga dito good price, real deal! :)
eljunPacomios 03-10-2011, 07:43 AM Hello Everyone,
I am a beginner, but I was advised to get D90 instead of D5000.
How much is it at Mayers?
Nikon D90 Body?
Nikon D90 Kit Lens?
Thanks,
Eljun
Jayson Poon 03-19-2011, 12:04 AM Got a D90 from Mayers yesterday. I did some research regarding prices on the Hidalgo stores before settling with Mayers.
When I stepped in Mayers, Mang Ramon was already looking over. I asked for a D90 and he said he has one in stock.
He let me tested it and after a few shots, bought it, and left the store happy. Smooth transaction.
The freebie I got was the memory upgrade, instead of paying 500, he offered it to me @ 300.
By the way, the store was packed. Maybe thats the reason behind the 'attitude', Too many people go to his store and only inquires the prices.

it was at 43k about a month ago. I don't know after the Japan incident.
leoaguirre 04-02-2011, 10:18 PM Hi guys! Just bought my d90 from Mang Ramon this morning. It's 45k but since I was the very first customer, he gave it to me for 44,500. :)
kites_cayetano 04-02-2011, 10:42 PM so prices really went up.
leoaguirre 04-02-2011, 11:15 PM The saleslady told me it was 47k last week. I checked with Henry's online last March 28 and it was 44.5k, checked again this morning before going to Hidalgo and it was 45k.
Good thing Mang Ramon gave me that 500 pesos discount for being the first one to buy.
ariseobonifacio 04-02-2011, 11:26 PM i bought my Canon speedlight EX II from Mayer, after 3 months, flash randomly fails.. most specially if the head of the flash is facing upward.
ariseobonifacio 04-02-2011, 11:27 PM mayer endorses Nikon over Canon... FYI
Lei Sarmiento 04-03-2011, 12:31 AM By default i think he does endorse the nikon entry level slrs over canon. But when it comes to advanced / enthusiasts cams, he's fair enough as he knows people asking for 60ds for example are already into photography or have taken a good amount of time already on deciding on an advanced body.
He does remember frequent buyers as well. He already knows ill be looking at canon stuff whenever im there.

Woah! I would love to check out Mang Ramon in Hidalgo one of this days for my first DSLR purchase. I will get D90 too. I do hope he would be in good mood when I get there.
Hail Mang Ramon!
bertbaylon 04-06-2011, 09:53 AM bought my DSLR in Henry's, but the small accessories (from lens hood to flash) are all from Mang Ramon. He sells them cheaper.
Jay Leccio 04-06-2011, 10:58 AM ill be buying D90 also next week.
Meyers or Henrys???
katakot bumili ng may dalang cash. safe ba bumili dun guys?

katakot bumili ng may dalang cash. safe ba bumili dun guys?
First, speak in English. DPP is an English speaking community and its a requirement :)
To answer your question, well yes. A lot of photographers already bought their cameras, lenses, and accessories there. And yes, some bring their cash, while some in CC or in check. Just bring one or two friends with you when you go there and be bringing lots of cash. Also, don't act like an innocent when you go there. Act like you don't have lots of money with you. Just keep yourself in low profile.
kites_cayetano 04-06-2011, 11:13 AM d90 kit is at 43k @ Mayer last Feb 23. with bag and 4gb memory card.
vince lee 04-23-2011, 12:36 PM available na po ba ung nikon D5100 sa mayer?:)

Valine 05-07-2011, 12:51 PM Hi Guys!
I am new in photography and I want to buy an entry level dslr.
I am planning to buy Nikon d3100 at Meyers. I have gone thru many forum sites about Mang Ramon and I am feeling the pressure now. (sigh..) but I am still pushing thru buying from him. I would like to know how much do you think is the price of D3100 at Meyers? Thanks guys!

virgodelarosa 05-11-2011, 08:08 AM you can also have your items delivered for free...my d7000 was delivered free of charge.
Paoloajero 05-14-2011, 12:03 PM So far mang ramons store is two thumbs up! Especially if he is in a good mood
vlad_ramones 05-15-2011, 10:08 PM does mang ramon accepts deferred payment using credit card?
Erwin Tan Go 05-16-2011, 01:01 PM i've known ramon since the late seventies, don't be offended by the guy, that's just typical of him...dami kasi pumupunta dun na panay tanong lang di naman bili, kaya kung ikaw man ang gawin nilang tanungan db nakaka-asar?
No issue with You or Mang Ramon but my dad runs a shop in Raon just near hidalgo and its Normal for customers to come in and ask and dont even buy a product but we do not give an attitude. Not all birds fly so not all who pass by the mall shops...
Good business does not always come the first time around and good buyers ask and look around first.. I go to the websites before going to a place to buy and for Mayer who does not have a website, its just right for someone to go in and ask.. no harm with that plus, we are in the Philippines (most welcoming place and people in asia) and not hong kong..

zaltierra 06-04-2011, 11:10 PM If one wants to buy a dslr from Mang Ramon, is there a particular time of the day when it's best to buy from him?
Does he automatically provide freebies like camera bag, SD Card, LCD protector, etc., or does one have to ask him for it?
Will Mayer's price quote be different if I just inquire through phone instead of going there in person?
Would it be prudent if I ask MR for his advise regarding his opinion between two particular models of camera? Would it be too much if one asks for hands-on feel of the two units before choosing one?
And in what day of the week is it safest to buy at Hidalgo? Thanks guys!
Many questions but your answers will benefit other newbies as well.
Micko Calbang 06-07-2011, 02:19 PM For inquiries visit Mayer Photo (http://www.facebook.com/mayerphoto?sk=wall)
dennis.pena 06-07-2011, 02:44 PM If one wants to buy a dslr from Mang Ramon, is there a particular time of the day when it's best to buy from him?
Any time of the day except when somebody - or you - tick him off. He gives the best deals but if you tick him off, he'll throw you out of the store. BTW, Meyer's is closed on Sundays and holidays.
Does he automatically provide freebies like camera bag, SD Card, LCD protector, etc., or does one have to ask him for it?
Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. Depends on the item you will be purchasing and the deal you set with him.
Will Mayer's price quote be different if I just inquire through phone instead of going there in person?
No. Same quote. However, sometimes they lower the price - if you get on the good side of Mang Ramon.
Would it be prudent if I ask MR for his advise regarding his opinion between two particular models of camera? Would it be too much if one asks for hands-on feel of the two units before choosing one?
He will accommodate test firing of cameras BUT be sure you get one of the cameras because if not (you go out to canvass from another store then come back to him), chances are he would not give you the time of day anymore. Meyers usually gives the best prices. Asking him for his opinion is like playing Russian Roulette IMO - if he's in a good mood, he'll answer your questions. If not, he'll probably tell you off.
And in what day of the week is it safest to buy at Hidalgo? Thanks guys!
Safest is subjective. You'll be in Quiapo so how safe you will be is up to you. If you display yourself as a moneyed person that doesn't know his way around, chances are some thug will scout you.
Best of luck.
zaltierra 06-07-2011, 05:31 PM Thanks sir. His shop and Watson's are my candidates, because of their good price and their good aftersales record. Hopefully by Monday i'll have my new toy. :)
johnSarmiento 06-25-2011, 01:44 PM How would you know if the DSLR cameras are not in "Gray" units? Thanks..
reyromanjr 06-27-2011, 05:16 PM How would you know if the DSLR cameras are not in "Gray" units? Thanks..
Usually "Gray units" are a lot cheaper than from legitimate distributors and only has "Store Warranty"...they are originals but does not carry the local distributors warranty.

For example, I bought a Nikon D3100 for a price of 27k, one which is not a Gray unit. And if it a Gray unit, is it less than 27k?
romzLopez 06-27-2011, 09:14 PM For Nikon, it should have CDSC warranty, Canon should have the 3 year local warranty

Hm, may I know what is CDSC? Sorry, because I'm just a newbie. Hehe. I just want to find out how can I buy a DSLR by myself. Just to be sure.

Aside from the store telling that the unit is a CDSC unit, the box will have a hologram sticker seal by CDSC (Columbia Digital *something* don't really know the complete meaning :D)
Something like this:

When buying in R Hidalgo, canvass all the stores first before deciding...i bought all my cameras and gears at R Hidalgo but got my Canon 50D at a Canon store in V Mall just for the warranty(they offered the cheapest prize with lots of freebies). Its a bit expensive by 3+K than in R Hidalgo, but for the warranty its worth it.

if you got a D3100 kit 18-55 for 27k, then what you got is a gray unit (current price of gray today is around 26k)
afaik, price for CDSC unit for deferred card transaction is around 34k-35k (with 2 years CDSC, nikon camera bag, nikon tripod and 4gb card)
going cash or straight payment can give you around 3k discount for CDSC units.
anyway, one way to ask if they got Service and Parts warranty. Grey seller only offers Service warranty (parts would have to be shouldered by the owner)

Is that the price of the Nikon D3100? And how will I know if I purchased is CDSC warranty? And I'm planning to buy this coming December, a gift for myself and staight cash payment.
yohandelacruz 07-09-2011, 06:21 AM CDSC units are sealed with CDSC stickers. They only open the seal when purchasing the product.
If there is no CDSC seal stickers, it's considered grey unit. I think CDSC also comes with their own warranty card (not sure about this since I never bought a CDSC unit before).
That's about it.
Note: Any unit that did not undergo CDSC here in the Philippines is considered a grey unit. Even if your unit came directly from Nikon Japan, Thailand, Singapore, HK, etc.

Agree with u erwin 100%. if customers like us are not given a modicum of courtesy by these stores better not BUY. IT IS NOT OK TO BE TREATED LIKE DiRT by these people show your displeasure never suffer in silence! Teach them a lesson by not patronizing their store and informing others of their rude behavior. Selling is a service and not a license to mistreat public. There's nothing illegal with trying to canvass the best prices you can avail of!
