Hi Guys,
What lens would you recommend to go with D90 Body, assuming this will be your start up lens and first time in getting DSLR .
Thanks in Advance...

you didn't mention your shooting preference, so Sigma 18‐50/2.8 EX DC macro HSM (P22,000) should be a good starter lens...

i think better if you get an all around lens. the kit lens of the d90 is a good walk around lens. or better the 18-200 OS...... just got my sigma 18-200 OS a while ago and i'm very satisfied.....
better read reviews and comments and suggestion so that you will not no buy something that doesn't suit your needs.
good luck.......

I bought a Sigma 18-200 DC OS for my D90 body and I saw some inconsistency with the overall IQ, some times it's soft depending on the focal length, when I was able to get a chance to use the same lens on an old D40x its seems to be more consistent. It seems that I need to play more on the d90's Active DLghting, I'm not quite sure yet. I also tried a Nikkor 55-200 VR on the the D90 and for me seems better or maybe it's just me...

I don't have a specific shooting preference to begin with but to start with probably landscape, micro and soon portrate of my baby girl (last week of june)... so i guess all around lens with good IQ.
I am planning to get a D90 body alone and looking for a good all around lens to begin with. I've been thinking of the d90 kit lens also and the Nikkor 18-200 but my budget would be 60K; for D90 Columbia unit (48K) and the rest is for the lens.
Any suggestions would highly appreciated.

with P60k, go for a D90 kit (with 18-105 VR lens).

I believed I can get a D90 Kit (with 18-105 VR lens) around 54K for a grey unit, but I really want to grab the 2 Years warranty offered by columbia.
Don't you think an additional of 10K would justify the 2 Years Columbia Warranty?

it really depend on the buyer if you want to have a warranty.

Just get the CDSC D90kit. The 18-105 is a great lens and works perfectly with the D90. Dponline is selling it with a bag and 2gb card for 62k. You can also opt to get the body at around 47k at Definition.com.ph (with 2yrs warranty) and just get the 18-105 separately for around 13k at Hidalgo. You should have little problem sticking tot he 60k budget.
Don't get me wrong, Sigma lenses aren't bad at all but if I had a choice between a good Nikkor and an equally good sigma i'd probably go for the nikkor esp if the price gap isn't that big.

Hi jemuellegaspi,
I would suggest 18-200 VR for starter lens:)
I have the kit lens 18-105 VR and I noticed the limitations since my first out of town shoot for my new D90 was Mt. Mayon and Cagsawa Ruins in Legaspi:)
Problem is 20k difference in price of D90 kit 18-105 VR versus D90 kit 18-200 VR with Mayers.
