Equipment is expensive, pay is low, hours are long, work is grueling, and clients don't pay on time.

But, once in a while, you are reminded that you're in photography not because of the money - but because you enjoy it.

Hahaha, nice one David! :) Hot Damn!

Not to be so OT: I guess for newbie photographers like me, digital is the way to go since results can be seen right away. Thus, changes can be made on the fly and in my experience, one learns faster. As said many times over in different books and websites, digital is also cheaper as there are no printign costs.

OT din: Fidel, if you're a newbie, then I'm a fetus hehe.

But I agree, digital cuts your learning curve a lot... Saves you craploads of $$$ in prints as well.

But, once in a while, you are reminded that you're in photography not because of the money - but because you enjoy it.

If your interest is solely to enjoy photography and all its perks, except profits, then stay a hobbyist. But if you are in the business of photography, do enjoy being a photographer, but make sure that you are doing what you need to do to earn from it as well. Successful photographers know that earning money and enjoying your shoot are not mutually exclusive. :)

May I suggest reading Joe Pobereskin's blog? He's a photographer from New Jersey.
